The lawsuit in question is quite acceptable. I know that the slashdot crowd is against intellectual property, but without it, where would we be today? Sitting around not watching TV, not on our computers, drooling over what to do. Blizzard has legally trademarked the devil, and I don't think it's right for the MPAA to try and make a movie about him now, after all, the MPAA is a very repectable organization, and so is Blizzard.
A ripoff! I mean come on people! I got a Duron 700 with a TNT 2 graphics card, a 20 gig harddrive, etc. This is much more powerful than that Sun Station, especially with the awesome power of Win2k.

I would like to congragulate the developers for developing this fine multimedia framework. It's nice that the best OS in the world can now be used to do the most fun activity in the world, watch porn movies.
Though I didn't fully read the article, game designers should design their games around being usable on a 56k modem. People aren't made of money. While they're at it, maybe they should run smoothly on any VESA-compatible video card, an 8 bit sound card, and IPX as well as TCP/IP. Make the game that efficient, and you'll have a game that can run efficiently, even in Linux. Even FreeBSD!!
That's not exactly what I meant. I meant that, most apps are written for GNOME and/or GTK. In KDE, you often have to run these apps, and it is bloat, because you are wasting memory, and running them from KDE looks bad.
GNOME and GTK apps I've noticed ingegrate better with more window managers than do KDE apps,and there are a lot more of them. KDE is the better environment by far, but running all your non-KDE apps in it creates bloat and ugliness.

For the simple reason that when I buy a piece of software, all I want is a simple, shrinkwrapped solution. If I want a constantly (monthly/yearly/etc.) updated piece of software, I'll compile from CVS thankyou.
I don't think IP is communism. It is a control artificially placed by the state, making it communist/fascist/whatever in nature. In a true free market, there would be no IP and no copyright.
I think this is a bad idea. As horrible as the test may be, it is still the most objective way there is of gauging ability. (not intelligence!) GPA's, like the author said, are highly subjective, not only from school to school, but possibly within one school as well. Case in point, at my school there are different levels for different students. Career prep, Tech school prep, college prep, and honors. An A in career prep is worth an A in honors as far as GPA is concerned, however, the A in career prep would be worth less AFA rank in class.
Now we can have a cross-platform x86 assembler anywhere there's a bash shell available. Windows, DOS, Linux, Solaris, oh my! Oh...wait a second. It's only NASM in interpreted form but isn't as useful. Neat for hack value alone though.
The "Pursuit of Happiness" was called "Property" in the original draft of the Declaration of Independence, Pursuit of Happiness just sounded better to them to thumb there noses to a king with. Profit is property, thus, the right to profit is implied.
Windows drivers don't run under WINE! WINE is an API reimplementation, it does not replace the Win9x kernel. Though apps can for the most part use Win9x syscalls, things which live in kernel space can't be use in WINE right now, and it may not even be possible.
EVERYONE, STOP POSTING ABOUT USING DRIVERS IN WINE HOPING TO GET +5 INSIGHTFUL OR SOMETHING!

When will it be ported to Linux? Everyone knows that Linux is a superior gaming platform. It could sell a million copies.

What is wrong with 60 fps. Movies are 25 fps. 30 fps is smooth gameplay, past about 40-50, your eyes can't even tell the difference anymore.
