Its probably a good idea to be wearing a spacesuit in case something goes wrong. Theres a lot of junk in low orbit, and if your small craft hits something and starts leaking it could get very uncomfortable. In a bigger craft you would have more time to get your suit on if there was an accident.
While Boeing would like NASA to buy the craft, I don't think Congress would give them the budget to do that. Instead they will probably be leased or hired.
Its not like those amphibian Canadair planes that can just land on a lake or the sea, scoop up a load of water and take off back to fight a fire. It porobably takes a while to fill it up with water.
It seems that we are going to have to fight off aliens for our survival. Given that any aliens that come here are going to be more advanced than us, I wouldn't say thats optimistic. . And even if we don't come across intelligent aliens, the (human) Galactic Empire will become corrupt and collapse, witth whole planets wiped out.
