    It only makes sense on the really long flights, like the trans pacific routes. The Concorde never got into that market because it didn't have the range.In fact I don't think a tans pacific flight at mach 2 would be possible even with todays technology, unless you have in flight refueling.

    Even military jets don't normally go supersonic at 1000ft. A clean F15 could go that fast, but in a few minutes it would use up all its fuel.

    (Maybe thats the shadow of another (very close in) planet).

    So the planets are aligned with the University of Maryland ?

    Generaly the planets of our solar system are on the same plane as each other - except for Pluto, and that was kicked out for its bad behaviour by the IAU

    I don't know if they have enough of a sample to analyse that. But The ISS astronauts and Mir cosmonauts have each spent a lot more time in space than Sally Ride. Have any of them died of cancer?

    And going into space in a shuttle was not the safest thing to do anyway.

    The plural of penny is pennies. Penny's refers to something belonging to a girl called Penny.

    NZ switched to decimal currency in 1967 ("the 10th of July - next year")
    After that date the most common use of that coin was to improve the electrical connection in torches that used D size batteries.

    (Oh I spose I should clarify - LEO = Low Earth orbit - no more that a couple of hundred miles up. GEO = Geostationary - up at 25000 miles so it stays in the sameplace relative to the ground.)

    People who work in well air conditioned offices don't feel as hot as those who have to perfotm manual labor outside, or in less well cooled (and dehumidified) environments

    And people who are very wealthy aren't concerned about global warming, they can just build a new summer home firther north.

    You know that people probably did die from the Tunguska blast (not that the Russian govt at the time cared about some remote peasants) and if one hit the same area today, there would be a lot more deaths since Siberia is more populated these days.

    As for antarctica, well it may not kill many people but it would sure melt a lot of ice, and we would have ocean rise a lot faster than global warming predicted.

    Where it would be nice to see an ateroid impact would be on the moon, preferably in one of the maria so we can see how big a crater it makes., and nobody gets hurt.

    Why not go all the way and change to Kelvin
