We've run req here where I work for years in Digital Unix. req is _not_ a SunOS-specific program from what I can tell.
While req is really good for what it does, it lacks a good useable web front end (at least from the versions I've used over the years.. I could be wrong on a newer version being better).
If you have users comfortable in a unix shell, req might be the way to go. If you are looking for a nice pointy-clickety front end, you will most likely find something far better that utilizes php and an sql-esque backend.
Just a thought. I havent done the math, but, regardless of how much M$ stands to lose in the whole rebate deal, it still probably cost M$ more money to pay lawyers to make the contract, with the loopholes in it, than it will lose on folks taking advange of the offer in OR and CA.
Dont forget to add the cost of the rewrite of the contract as well, as I'm sure the wording for these 2 states will change.
I for one would like to see Sierra steer thier aquisition Papyrus to release thier Nascar Racing series to linux. Doubtful though, as Papyrus's latest (Grand Prix Legends) and future releases (Nascar 2000) seem to be deeply embedded in DirectX 6.
If they could do this, it would remove my reasons for booting to windows at all.
Uh.

Especially Nascar 3 and Grand Prix Legends.
Quality simulations.. these guys are top-notch
when it comes to racing sims.
Too bad Sierra owns em... getting them to support
Papyrus in porting them would be a miracle.
(NOT a troll, just an opinion!)
If you happen to have a M$ OS on one of your computers, then go hit www.dialpad.com.
Free calls to anywhere in the US via a 'net -> PSTN gateway. Works fairly well, even over a 56k modem.
Unfortunately, thier little java applet doesnt work in linux (yet).
(Staying away from the morality argument...)

Ayup.. looks like its been slashdotted.. up to
72% now after my vote.
They will probably look at thier referrer logs
and see that they have been truly slashdotted and
throw the results away anyways.

I could dream, cant I?
Heh..
My boss has scheduled an "off-site meeting" for that date for our entire department.
I wonder where we will be?
