  1. Free Music People... on Is SDMI a Consumer's Nightmare? · · Score: 1

There is actually a group of musicians/bands/etc. applying a GPLish touch to the music that they write. Doing a search in your favorite search engine on "free music" should reveal of few of their pages. Check out here to get started.

  3. Sharing of Information. on Interview: Physicist Leon M. Lederman · · Score: 1

This will probably suffer from Late Comment Syndrome, but oh well...

    My Question(s) to Dr. Lederman:
Science has always been filled with those that believe in sharing information, and those that believe in keeping things secret. How do you feel science is benifited by sharing information, between nations? How do you feel that science has been benifitted or stunted by competition between countries or scientists, and the keeping of "secrets"? Should an "opensource" method of study be used now? And, finally, do you feel that the scientific community has shown an attitude favoring the sharing of information so far?

  4. My Favorite Failure on The 20th Century: Loser Style · · Score: 1

They didn't mention favorite failure, at least as a physics student: the Tacoma Narrows bridge, 1940. The video of that thing vibrating in the wind, has created laughs and amazement for a long time. This failure also increased awareness of the need to give aerodynamic testing as part of procedure in testing suspension bridges. Here are some pictures if anyone is interested.

  5. Effects this Case could have. on DVD Hearing Today - Are You Ready to Rumble? · · Score: 1

To me the most important part of this case is that if the DVD CCA wins, then no official linux distribution will ever contain an open source DVD implementation. This could possibly be a major blow for opensource, with the claim that Windows has DVD support, out of the box. (While it really doesn't, but still it is easy to come by.) I would love to DVD fully supported in RedHat or Debian, but none of the distributions want to deal with DVD because of its legal implications. Already the dxr2 mailing list has had posts saying that RedHat will most likely not include the drivers due to their legal implications.

Seriously, even if you don't appreciate the scientific level of what NASA is doing. You can get some really awsome images from them. Check out NASA's awsome collection of images, which have aver generous copying policy.
