    They don't seem germane to the discussion. They would be, by definition of "more money then they could ever need" be 1% or less of the population.

    So universal social welfare because 1% of the population will still work?

    Honestly, not sure if that is what you meant, as your logic does not seem to follow.

    Care to find any current/recent examples of your idea?

    The Swiss rejected it last week, and Iran is the only country that is doing it currently.

    So any other attempts have failed, unless you are thinking of a theocratic dictatorship to go along with it.

    And not once addressing the actual issue: government is a problem to be managed, not a solution.

    Basic Income. Please, if want charity, make it local. You provide a basic income to as many people as you want to and earn it yourself. Don't drag me into it. Basic wage would just disincentivize people to work. Re: Roman Corn Dole. It has been tried before

    Exception: If we get to the point where entire industries can be automated from start to end, basic wage is workable because the cost of labor is near zero.

    We are a few hundred years from that, I think.

    He is not reading what he writes, or he would have been here long ago. It is the very disruption he predicted in his book.

    You don't need to buy a Kindle, the app is free.

    I read books on my phone while traveling, and my MacBook Air when at home.

    I want both. I am a voracious reader, usually 2 to 3 novels a week.

    There are just not enough first tier writers that I like to keep my occupied.

    and it is already there. Check out B.V Larson, Jack Campbell, and Charles Nuttall. I am sure there are more, but those three I happen to like.

    These guys crank out 2nd and 3rd rate Sci-Fi at an alarming rate.
    It is nothing as good as many of the authors mentioned here, but on the other hand, it is a $.99 to $3.99 guilty pleasure while I wait for the once-every-few-years pace of 1st tier writers.

      I mean, it is popcorn stuff, but at least I don't feel ripped off like I did by Brian Herbert $8.99 a pop, at least $7 Frank Herbert premium, and $.99 of fan fiction.

    Your model is going out of business, Charles, figure it out.

    Hell, you wrote Accelerando, maybe you should re-read it so you can remember the lessons of your own book.

    $35K is not a necessity demand. You can buy a car better equipped and better fitted than the Tesla for $35K including a few BMWs and Mercedes.

    But they won't be ZEV.
