but yeah seriously... who the F cares? if people want to write free software for the system, cool! if not, cool! Also, i'm pretty sure as time passes, someone will decide, "This app is cool, i bet i can make a free one that' just as good."
I had a similar experience, when my car started to over steer, just a small counter steer and i was fine. guess it's a good thing i like using the same car i own in the game as well?
Jeremy Clarkson experienced the difference once. He drove the exact same car on the exact same track and concluded that the only thing keeping him from getting close to the same laptime was fear.
I have Pre-paid Legal through Primerica Financial Services. i haven't done any comparason shopping for what's good and what's not, but i figured, for $25/mo it sounded like a good deal. Not to mention i can get easy legal advice for wills and estate planning too.
Sen Hatch is also largely responsible for the DMCA and all of those other industry protectionist bills disguised as things to fight piracy... he and P Leyhey (D) are those bills greatest supporters, and irnoically enough to of the biggest recievers of soft money from entertainment...
I forget where, but i remember seeing a PCI card with DIMM slots that would create a dedicated RAM drive for use as virtual memory. It would draw enough power, even when the machine is shutdown, to keep it's memory.
my experience has been about 50/50. Soem cops are really nice, others are just not. Sometimes it seems like they are using the attitude to try and scare you.. even if it's completly unecessary... other times, it just seems like they're pissed off and can't control their temper.
Your statement, just made me think of oen of Gene Hackman's best lines from the old run of Superman Movies: "For all their advanced culture and technology, you'd think these people would learn how to use doors."
No i'm NOT trying to twist it for my own purposes. I am pointing out that the legal definition of this crime is infringement, not theft. I have even said that in common vernacular theft could be used, just not if you are talking about legal definitions of this crime. The RIAA was not involved in "stealing of cable." It's this very specific case, where it was defined differently. No matter what else lawmakers have defined OTHER cases, they have not in this case.
well, yes. untill she is over ruled by a higher body, i think that this sets the presedent for any legal definition of copyright infringement vs. stealing. just because another judge, in another case, ruled that another crime could be considered theft, doesn't make it apply to this one, especially when the judge on this case said, specifically, it is not.
"But if she were ruling that DRM were legal, I would expect she would be villified as knowing nothing"
i'm sure you'd love to believe that i feel that way... except:
your logic is compelety off becase there was never a qestion if DRM was legal, which it is
my citing her statement as a source for legal prescedent in this case has zero bearing on if i like the ruling or not. only that is what the courts have currently declared.
yes, redefining words to win the semantic argument is bad, except it's the RIAA that's doing that, in ths case. yes, the key issue is the actual act and that copyright laws should be rewritten... so that they fall in line with what the constitution says, rather than the private interests of a few large marketing/distribution entities.
i'll grant you it's twisted, but seriously... i think deportng a Candian citizen to Syria to be tortured far outweighs this in terms of un-democratic...
as for people who said they'd leave and people who said people who didn't like it should leave.. i think they kind of forgot that this country was founded on fighting for your rights... silly people...
actually, the courts were very clear on this issue. i beleive it was the Judge herself that, multiple times told the **AA Lawyer(s) to correct themselves, that copyright infringement was not theft. in this case it is the **AA that has tried to redefine the legal terms to their benifit. you might be able to get away with in when you're dealing with a vague vernacular, but not in a court, with a judge that knows the law.
but just how many votes can they really get? and how many candidates can they field? seems to me liek a waste of time. the time and money would be better spent on public awareness campaigns and lobbying.
Yeah, it gets ugly sometimes. I do admit there are times i enjoy a good flame war... and there are just some times where i can't resist correcting blatant inaccuracies.
Nah, i don't personally know anyone that surfs pipe. That place is just plain dangerous. the reef is super shallow. if you look there's even a day i was out and soemone died...
yeah here: http://www.pbase.com/ryusenkai/surfing
As for your analogy. i have never shot slide film, but from what i've read, i guess it makes sense. i'm glad we can agree on this. i kind of get tired of people who shoot one way and call the people who shoot the other way stupid.
Yeah, some images i enjoy doing a lot of post. Others, i just apply a curve and saturation adjustment. Another thing i like about RAW is that since it's 12 bits per pixel, i sometimes to digital bracketing, to overcome the problems with high contrast images. Sometimes, especially when i do stuff liek surfing shots, you simply can't do normal braketing.
Nothing wrong with shooting JPG. I have my reasons for shooting RAW and my personal system probably would not work for most other people, since it eveolved soley based on my preferences. It's not really because i'm a purist. It's partially because the way i like to work and post-process.
Of course. Nikon does make great cameras and Lenses, but i do feel Canon is superior, except for the flash metering. Minolta's cameras are now the property of the Evil empire of consumer electronics, so i'm not sure which direction they will go.
yeah, at that small a sensor size, it's really hard. i had a G1 before the 300D... withthe G1, i would only shoot at ISO 50, unless i absolutly had no other choice.. with the 300D is might use 200 or 400 if needed. with the 20d, i use 400 and 800 when needed and 1600 when i'm desperate.
i think i am more prone to blame the software side for saturation, since i shoot RAW almost exclusively and thus and under or oversaturation is really the result of my descision in the RAW developing.
from my research and asking people who've shot both, Canon is definately the leader in terms of R&D. i think it's because they are the only company that really makes all of the key components from the glass to the sensors. Nikon seems to be fairly good with certain images. from what i understand the Nikon images are sharper, but show more aberations. i think it's because canon has a more agresive anti-alias filter over the sensor. the one area i'm told Nikon really excels is their flash metering. i know with my 20D + EX550, i get all kinds of funky miss readings sometimes. of course, i would need to be able to compare to a 30d & ex580 to really be sure of the current Canon tech.
I used to have the original DR and i think it was a great camera, but i would never have set it for 800 or 1600 ISO... the noise was too much for my tastes. I understand the XT is better about noise.

what if the update just causes more holes and you need to patch the patch?
Add to the fact the Boise (IIRC) had it in his contract that he gets paid no matter what. It worked out well for him. He walked away with $Millions.

that's right... thanks for remidning me why i didn't buy it .p

It's about the interpretation of the law only.
and that's where the Judge's job comes in.

Yeah, they've even released a "new" DSLR under the Sony name.

Ahhh, sorry for my misunderstanding
