"Try post WWI Germany for a fine example of how idiotic multi-party systems can become."
And therefore all multi-party systems are a 3rd Reich waiting to happen? Please.
"When they start digging Nader's skeletons out of the closet, you'll see how creepy he really is."
Please, fill us in on all this revealing information that you're privy to! Oh, you have none?
"Simpering in the corner and moaning about how big companies are hurting you is weak and feeble behavior."
Mr. Nader has done precisely the opposite of simpering and/or moaning. He has, for many, many years, led the fight to hold those corporations responsible for their actions. Obviously you think these corporations are beyond reproach, but were you more of Nader's mind, what would you suggest he do? March into the headquarters of GM with an automatic weapon? No serious person would contest that Mr. Nader's work has saved lives. Can you say the same for yourself???
"If you had any real conviction, you'd quit voting for losers and start influencing the hearts and minds of those with a legitimate chance to win."
Are you a high school football coach or something? Look back through history and tell me how many real instances of social progress started with people supporting/voting for losers. Just about all of them. Real change doesn't occur because the powers-that-be get a pang of conscience. It happens because when movements like the Greens get too big for them to ignore.
This is precisely the point here, and there's plenty of real
battles to fight without wasting time lamenting the 'cause' of
some goon who inflates his ego by squatting domains.
Likely nothing, as DMCA is a piece of legislation not a corporation.

You forget Mac OS X.
Of course, you might expect Apple to release their product with fewer default holes and have a better support system for patching new ones once they're found than your average Linux distro.
The idea that the standard of living has increased is dubious at best. Take into account average working hours (on the rise), the need for both adults in a household to work, and the drop in real wages earned by Americans over the last 20-30 years.
"but I certainly expect that polite users will stay the fuck away from my machines"
I suspect they will unless you host one of the most popular sites in the OSS community, and there's boatloads of cred to be earned by sympathetically calling attention to a sploit whose existance would undoubtedly have been revealed at some point on that same site.
Vandals? No. A vandal somehow marks a place that would never have been otherwise. An exploit in Slashcode would have *certainly* have been a story here sooner or later.
You say: This would still be a problem if the person spoke English natively, and no other language. The fact that you single out foreigners is more than enough evidence of racism.
In response to: That includes foreigners as well as white "surfer dudes" that insist on using bullshit jargon when they talk.
It would seem that you didn't even finish reading his post before you went on with your accusations of racism. You only dilute the cause of anti-racism by crying wolf.
Nice to see you read Suck. The problem with your contention is that you have no idea what these people do besides post. I appreciate the sentiment, but suggest you should divorce it from your condescension.
Saw this months before ILOVEYOU. Is Slashdot getting lazy? With all their bread, maybe somebody could taken 15 seconds to check any 1 of the major AV vendors' sites before posting this.
This is irresponsible nonsense.

Somebody moderate this up!

would you have gotten it if he included tags?

Middle school's a sore spot, huh?

Yeah like those SPELL CHECKERS. What's up with those?!?!
Have you tried this latest version?
1) Talking to one's elected reps get you 0 in most parts of this country. Big donations, though...
2) He/she did buy it in the first place, and stated as much quite clearly.
You just don't get it do you?

FEARS about the *net*?!?! In SoCentral? Psha.
Anyway, why not just put the terminal somewhere visible to the attendant and have him/her boot the 14 years olds when the start surfing pr0n?
Or just use the filtering software... who's really gonna go to the laundromat to research breast cancer???

All of us are still learning. =)
Whence this assumption that the only people trying to bust this box are script kiddies?
I think it's 83 char's:
0,32,46-126
Therefore, 83^20 = 2.4e+38 > 2^127
2^128
SO yeah. Brute force sucks.
Everyone's ignoring the fact that we only need search the 83 characters coded for in a2i().
