There is photo and video evidence of a large number of policemen in front of the embassy. They were obviously put there to threaten Ecuador. As for the embassy's claims about the extradition deals, any involved country could issue an open statement promising no extradition if Assange agrees to face charges, if what Ecuador said wasn't true. Of course, if you only believe the "evidence" coming from the mouth of US, UK or Swedish spokesmen, then you won't hear any confirmation, but that's a one-sided way to look at the case.

When most people think of flying cars they don't necessarily mean ground-air hybrids, but small cheap personal flying vehicles that can replace the functionality of cars (getting from point A to point B). The big problem, as you mentioned, is that most planes need an airport. Flying cars would have to be helicopters or some other kind of VTOL craft. Another option could be the use of small gliders like this one launched from the top of tall buildings, but these things tend to work only under optimal weather conditions.

Tax rates depend on how the society and economy functions, there is no single optimal value. Communist states or states with lots of resources (like Kuwait) have no taxes. On the other hand, Western European welfare states tend to have high tax rates to cover all the spending. I would say that the US is still on the liberal end of the spectrum compared to countries with similar economy.

Not exactly. The big "advantage" of digital banking is that banks can now lend out many times more virtual money than they actually have, making them concentrate on loans as they are far more profitable. Here, the big profit of the bank doesn't come from the banking activity itself but from creating virtual money and inflating the currency. Because of this, banks are much more willing to give risky loans.

Evolution is a combination of mutation and selection, the latter which isn't really present in cancer because it is a product of a single dramatic mutation, not normal cells slowly evolving into cancer cells. It couldn't have a continuous evolution anyway for its time is limited: either it dies or its host, killing both of them. Clonal tree colonies, on the other hand, can live for eternity.
