Well I imagine they get ad revenue from the banner ads plastered on the fartville and nafiawars game pages (they probably get paid whether you are using adblock or not). And Zynga sells prepaid game cards to buy items in the games. Don't know if FB gets a slice of that or not.

There have been several technologies over the last 10-20 years that could have easily and somewhat economically decentralized the grid. Some were even developed and marketed for home use only to quickly and quietly disappear. While solar panels work they are extremely inefficient and the cost of entry is still prohibitively expensive making them less competitive with your local power co.

All the comments seem to be steering you towards text editors which are great for the pro and serious hobbyist but if you are looking for true WYSIWYG DoodleKit is probably more of what you are looking for. I'll probably get flamed for even suggesting such a simple, platform independent, powerful tool that requires no coding and that is fine. Everything is done in your browser so you can edit your web site no matter where you are or what type of machine you are working on.

Thinking, it isnt as tough as you would think...

The thing is your brain is actually doing several billion things at once. You are only conscious of about 15-20 of those things. When you reach for a glass of water you do it slowly and gently and when you swing your arm to hit something you do it with a lot of force. You didn't "think" about how hard or soft you were going to use your arm. A good coder has to anticipate thousands of possible decisions in creating a single simple app.

  20. Re:Cable too please! on SCOTUS Rules Incumbent Telcos Must Share Network Access At Cost · · Score: 5, Informative

You missed the key term "regulated" meaning the government would determine what they could charge. It would be like they have done with electricity deregulation. I live in Texas and here is how it was done here. The local government mandated monopoly (Houston Lighting & Power) was split into two companies. One became the owner of the infrastructure and was named CenterPoint Energy. The other became the independent seller of electricity to end users Reliant Energy. Reliant Energy must purchase electricity from power brokers and CenterPoint delivers the power to Reliant's customers. CenterPoint charges Reliant a fee for using it's lines. CenterPoint is regulated by ERCOT. Reliant is free to charge the customer whatever it likes but it now must compete with other electricity providers for the privilege. For cable companies it would be like splitting Comcast into two companies. One would own the infrastructure and be regulated and the other would simply sell programming packages and service. I also advocate this model for Telco and Cellular.
