    Core kernel development team donates 2000 million dollars to Linux development!

    The entire core development team of the Linux kernel announced they will donate major parts of their 100 million dollars salary a year to the newly created Linux Development Fund, FSF and EFF.

    When asked about the future of the Linux kernel, the team laughed and said "Now we can pay a lot of people to spend more time on kernel development."


    Now tell me that giving tons of money into the right hands can't change things ...

    SATA seems to need some kernel parameters on
    most boards. worked for me with:

    "apci pci=acpi"

    Yes - i bought DOS, Windows, OS2, etc..
    Why should i have to pay more money for using those formatted media or for duplicating formatted media with the "dd" command on linux ?

    They sold me "format.com" and "diskcopy.com", and now i am supposed to pay for using those ?

    WMP will let you view videos for any codec you have installed.

    Hmmm... Microsoft makes the OS, the specifications for the codecs and the player. And by accident the Microsoft media player happens to use the Microsoft specifications to access codecs ?

    Sadly, Apple and Real don't give out system codecs. They're more interested in keeping some resemblence of market share.

    If MS would pay Apple and Real a reasonable fee for every copy of Windows sold both of them surely would be happy to supply system codecs "for free, as it's already included in Windows" :-)

    You pay for the MS supplied codecs and media player by buying windows (and/or their media server technology)

    a) Those calls probably are disturbing more than just one
    person per telephone call. My whole family gets disturbed
    when you interrupt our dinner.

    b) There are other ways of advertising, don't pretend the
    world of advertising will stand still if telemarketers
    can't continue calling me at home.

    Probably i'm just missing the sarcasm, but if this is no sarcasm: do you have any facts to support that idea ? ( I do not remember churches and newspaper are being shut down all over Europe. :-)

    If you think that page is "certainy more reliable information than Bowling for Columbine" you probably could inform me who is behind "gunfacts.info" and what their qualifications are.

    The desktop will be hardware accelerated DirectX, so eyecandy won't slow things down.

    DRM support that's part of the Windows Media Player
    Registration + Re-Registration on HW changs
    Nice Messenger running by default and needs a guru to remove
    etc.

    Just get XPAntiSpy and check what it disables and why :-)

    More Messenger, WMP and goodness what else providing "integrated Windows features that can't be removed and keep nagging you".

    How do they keep nagging you? I don't ever use WMP, and I removed Messenger at least a year ago.
    I'm not having your CD problem at all. I'm using the latest Nero 6.
