linux is a failer? thats news to a lot of fortune 500's I'll be sure to call them up and tell them that the wise one has spoken and shown us our folly.
they collect your information they do that to target adds to pay for your use of their service. don't like that don't use them. unlike a os or hardware you can switch services to any competitor with a couple key strokes, just type WWW.bing.com or WWW.ask.com or WWW.duckduckgo.com or WWW.yahoo.com etc,etc,etc...
"but their scripts are embedded in web pages i visit" then talk to the page owners about it. maybe that i because they use them for a essential part of their own services in that case get over it or leave. if not grab no-script and block Google.
they don't lock you out of your own hardware like Microsoft plans on doing in 8 or Sony does with play-station. they aren't attacking everyone under the sun for having tablets with a flat screen and four sides like apple.
they have made a few oops like adding every email contact to your friends list but they apologized and fixed their mistake. there was also must use real name clause in their T.O.S. not really all that unusual a requirement that they won't do squat all if you ignore it, lie people its the internet.
just because they have the potential for evil does not make them evil.
corruption is not a crime it is a lack of ethics. lying may or may not be illegal depending on the situation. stupid ass naming scheme is a pain to work with but hardly illegal. the law did what? declared that it was ok to break the law because you have don't like them and use morality as a excuse? nvidia aren't innocent of what? what actual law or contract have they actually broke.
no they just threaten to do so then buy you out if you refuse to pay them and call their bluff. just look at the nook case. or they fund other people and have them do it for them see nokia suing android manufacturers, and sco (funded by Microsoft) suing the Linux community.
windows media center is abominable. it is slow and unresponsive and screws up the organization of my media, by not letting me put things where they belong and periodically uninstalls the netflix extension
more desktop apps being ported are a must, i cant find a desent free ftp app that isn't full of cruft i don't need and adds. what i would like is filezilla port, a libra office port, pidgen port, transmission bit torent port, and calibre library port. vlc (beta) port is already on my tablet. oh and a air-crack-ng port would be nice too.
the real vlc has a beta and it seems to work fairly well with mkv i have had some artifacting on my dvd rip of red-dwarf i dropped on my kindel fire, not sire that is my rip or the beta software though
where have you been torenting that they put in ads? all of mine they have taken them out some went to the effort to blur the the network watermarks (for tv shows) the only ads in any of my pirated vids are the horrible ones syfy puts in mid content that reach half way across the screen.
oh you've been watching michal bay movies haven't you. that is only true of action movies(well certain comedies only replace explosion with a B.A.) in my experience, other genres are better about there plot because they actually need one. Unfortunately scifi has become a sub genre of action. That is why i robot sucked, the souce matterial wasn't action/explosions so they wrote a new script and through a few charecter names in. If a decent director would do asimovs books right, (not foundation it does not fit the movie format) they would be great. the robot series would work so would empire and the series prequals and sequals would be great as movies. but we will never see them because it would require skill to do not several thousand gallons of gasoline, propane and giant cg robots distroing cities and landmarks. I think i need to go watch dune now.
more likely have the cars get to one lane away from the accident and speed up so as to avoid a increase of congestion which can slow response time of emergency vehicles. simple venturi effect
and it goes in plain-text through every other pipe with bigger interest in spying on you. just think who is more likly to spy ge/comcast/msnbc/universal who makes the copyrighted material or privacy advocate that does not know who or where you are, that for all he knows you could be in lawless somilia or copyright ignoring communist china. Besides it is not necessarily plain text, if you are communicating over https it is encrypted. in fact the newer tor browser bundles comes with https everywhere which automagicly redirects you to the encrypted version of sites when available.
he could be pulling a lot off of usenet i know guy with two internet connections in his house one comcast, one qwest/c-link, and he reguarly pulls the max off of both.
he may not be a brilliant engineer but he has the money to buy lot of them. They can tell him the cost and he can decide whether or not it is worth the effort and money. he obviously has.
but if they are running on enterprise gear often is also flash-able so you could load a custom Linux or BSD distro and use it as a router without a back door and a good deal of control and customization
if they are liable then would it not fallow logically that the isp and everyone who owns a cable between my and my fellow pirates are responsible? i mean DMCA safe harbor protect them so would not the same apply to anyone allowing unfettered Internet access to others? but they don't want that because then they would have to prove you actually did copy the content they would have trace it two your MAC address but then i could simply be spoofing my MAC address. also if you have encrypted wifi then they would try to uses that as proof you did it but i can crack that with aircrack-ng. really unless they have a unencrypted access to the contents of your hard drive they cant prove you did copy anything and shouldn't be able to sue you.

also playstation runs a variation on bsd so any playstation games could in theory be ported to linux without much hassle
to lazy to look up the wikipedia article i read about it to site.
ah no that would be xbox and it don't have steam.
I bet Valve will help with the 3rd party developer support, perhaps a cross-platform answer to DirectX.
Do you mean OpenGL? i think some one has already written it
how exactly is Google being evil?
they sell ads that pays for your use.

you could just grab ubuntu arm and then apt-get install xbmc problem solved
(fallowed by apt-get purge unity)

client side encryption. i don't stop them from sending it to unauthorized parties but it sure as hell won't let them read it
That way, when Windows 10 comes along, you won't have a choice.
or you could simply build your own pc from parts and say F U to the manufacturers and Microsoft
