    This has got to be the 100th time I've heard of one of these "store n billion megs on a quarter" devices, and I'm still getting 650 megs a CD. Oh well, one day it'll be true, and all my backup needs will be met..till then.. *sigh*

    But, realy...if OGG infringes on the patents, chances are..they are a little too brod (as are all pattents on things dominated by one company...or...all patents)Are patents realy good for anything but making lawers rich?

    1) they are legaly responsibel for the bug, however you agreed to their licence agreement saying that whatever they did to your computer is your fault
    2) They just own the copyright to the text, as writers(sometimes) own the copyright to what they right, and as I own the copyright to this post. It's just information I put together in my own, original way. However, I'm not a laywer..so, dont listen to me.

    I'm out screaming "they're watching us, they're watching us". but think about this from the company's point of view..They need information about you. they always have. they always will. such things can be done with a poll, but they cost money, and can be easly manipulated. Now, they can get the same types of information a) without you knowing and b) without doing much more then hireing a couple geeks to put up a website and make a little browser "extention">

    Now, I'd rather they didnt do it this way (invasion of privicy, i'm a parinoied freak, etc) but I must admit, it's less anoying, and in some ways can be partaly benifitial (think targeted advertizeing) to the "normal user"

    Sadly, the internet was started to share information, but has become little more then a new way to get shafted

    Guys, the PS2 isnt gona solve world hunger, it's not gona make you faster, or smarter..chances are it wont even entertain you that much
    Yeah, it's probly a good console..but so is the Dreamcast, and the GameCube and XBOX will be too, when they come out

    And, I totaly disagree with the people who are against violence in moves/games/music/whadever

    This is a good thing. (and a bad thing)

    It's good, because .com, .net, .org are (basicly) all the same now (infact many things I've read say you should always register all three, even if you only fit into one of the catgorys
    It's bad, because:
    .coop is 4 letters, insted of the normal 3...this scares idiots
    .coop doesnt exactly yell out "this is a domain for a non-profit group"
    .coop isnt .com (this sounds stupid, but I'd say a good chunk of computer users who don't know anything but .com domains exist...yes...we do have people that stupid useing computers

    Well, there's always the multi-cd changers, PowerFile makes one for data CDs and DVDs, and there is always buying masive hardrives, and archiveing all your CD's as MP3s (I recomend 160kbps MINIMUM)

    In the real world, how many of us need this kind of speed? for game..raw CPU speed doesnt factor in that much (unless, god forbid you use software rendering)..for web browsing..you can do that just fine on a 90Mhz P1 (fine, you can take a 200Mhz P2 so java and flash will be nice and purdy) for DVDs..get a f*cking stand alone DVD player and a TV for god sakes...or at least a hardware based MPEG decoder

    but, you people love big numbers..

    Depending on what you're doing, the light from a nice CRT can usualy provide enough light to see the keys on your keyboard, however if you have to read things that are off your screen, track lights are always good. I have mine on my wall, reflecting off the celing

    actuly, when you buy a reccord, you not only get the peice of plastic with groves in it, but you also get a licence to the music itself, this licence lets you make ONE copy for backup, and will alow you to "share" your licence with friends by privitely playing the content of the original or backup (with napster, you are just letting "friends" get your backup)

    Your 2nd point is true

    And your 3rd point is mostly true

    However, the licence to USE linux is free, it may cost whoever gives you that licence money to do so, but to the end user, that doesnt make the prouduct any less free

    The only way (in my mind anyway) a democracy can work is if every individual is evenly enlightened, this prevents:
    a) People with power, but no knowledge of what they have power over (think internet regulations)
    b) people with all the knowledge, and not a drop of power (think me =P)
    this can also prevent deceptions being made because someone likes the color of paper it's presented on (or something like that)

    But, in the end...the idiots always find a way to get power

    I guess that's not enough for you people is it? I rember my good 'ol 300 baud modem..when all we had was 3 TLD's and AOL..what fun...
