Apparently the OSX terminal might be susceptible to this. It is possible to alias different escape sequences to commands like lm and ll to make the terminal full screen, send it to the background, make it tall, etc.
It would be interesting to see whether actual commands can be executed if tailing/var/log/messages, but I won't be the one to find out as my PowerBook is in the shop...
The shells of the iBooks are translucent plastic painted on one side (inside I think). You can strip the paint with some chemicals and refinish it with your own translucent paint of any color.
Search slashdot for mac mod, or use google. Should get a few links in the comments section.
Actually, the lowest model is now an 867MHz TiBook with the new ATI 9000 graphics card and a 40 gig drive. This is the equivalent of the previously midrange model which sold for $3199. So the price drop is in reality closer to $1,000.
Difference being 256MB less RAM in the new one (upgradable for $40 to 512MB), but 67MHz more in the new one than the old one.
I've been using Slack for some time, but I never investigated who Bob actually is. The Subgenious website is just impossible for me to read. I just don't have the patience to discern the links from actual content.
So, can anyone sum up in 200 words or less what the significance of the man with the pipe in his mouth is as relating to Slackware?
First, no one seems to be confused by the Free Software Foundation. Why would that be the driving factor here?
Second, the guy sounds pretty intelligent, and coupled with his recent ordeal of being drilled by prosecutors and his own lawyers, parents, friends, slashdot, as well as his warez experience, so he might know the difference between pirated software, and free software.
Third, he has a vision for a distribution system that he wants to create. What business is it of yours? You do not have a stake in whether it succeeds or not. In my eyes he wants to draw on his experience in the warez scene and transcribe the system of distribution into distributing files (whatever it may be) online.
What if the music/movie industries decide to distribute media online? Conceptually, the system he is envisioning might some day be viable to those companies, and he might end up living the high life. So quit bitching and putting down others' efforts and creativity.
I agree. What kind of advice was that? They were obviously shilling their software. If it happened once, simply removing the binary won't help you as it can happen again. How about info on upgrading Apache or OpenSSL, whichever necessary instead.
I bought a $2100 Inspiron Laptop on August 5th. I spoke to the sales drone, asked to not be charged for Windows. She said they no longer sold OS-less systems. She even checked with her manager, sure enough she came back and told me they no longer offered this option. Now, this was a system for someone else who is in a rush to get it, so I did not want to get into a whole argument.
But right after hanging up I felt raped. And now I find out Dell will still sell OS-less sytems up until kate August! Might as well bend me over a sink!
What do you guys suggest I do. Demand a discount? How much? Demand that they take out the OS? I can't really cancel the order as the person is leaving the country before the end of the month.
This isnt as much a PR move, as it is a direct answer to a story posted on/. a few days ago about major companies shying away from MS software because of the numerous security problems.
Sorry for not posting a link. It's late.
And, yeah, I am sure it was hard to obtain a copy of that email.

Is it possible to disable the optical drive if you know you won't be using it?
Or does OSX cut off any and all power to it when it isnt being used?
This will teach you to listen to what Apple rumor sites and incredulous forum posts have to say.
In all seriousness, my boss still has the 550MHz TiBook and he still wouldnt trade it for any new Intel laptop.

IBM got fined for the cleanup.

With all the added ad revenue, I wonder if the MTA will keep on increasing the fair prices.

What, no mention of Jackie "The Jokeman" Martling's appearance at the show?
Man, I hope he did the right thing quitting the show... I am starting to worry.
