    If he truly feels threatened, he only has two options to avoid retaliation from governments: hiding or publicity. Now that he's getting so much attention it's probably safer to stay in jail while the lawyers fight over extradition.

    I imagine that if I were a Chinese citizen, and some of the big foreign news websites were all-of-a-sudden firewalled, I would be extremely suspicious that negative press about China was just about to come out. That would motivate me to look harder for the information that is being blocked.

    Sure, except I've heard many of the details on NPR and no one is accusing him of what we, in the US at least, call rape. There was no non-consensual sex. No woman is pressing any charges. A politician has charged him with having sex without a condom. The local government is only aware of the issue because 2 women were trying to track him down to have him tested for STDs, but he stayed off the grid to avoid governments tracking him.

    Stupid? Yes. Scumbag? No.

    Just an FYI: you can't take your money elsewhere unless you go completely cash and are picky with ATMs. MC owns a few of the biggest consumer money transfer networks, so even if you pick Visa you'll still often be using MC services.

    I disagree. I avoid NJ like the plague, but NYC reception has been great for me in all 5 boroughs. Few problems on the street or in tall buildings. Only the subway is a problem.

    Verizon's coverage is definitely better in NYC, though, and Sprint's is by far the worst. Just my own personal experience from using all 3 carriers in NYC.

    I disagree. The infrastructure should already exist. It's just a new view on the same data. FB can't possibly re-engineer their infrastructure each time a new page is built. Or maybe they do and that's why they need so many programmers. Either way, something is very wrong over there.

    Is there any part of Facebook that isn't? I've always found their UI and particularly their site navigation to be confusing.

    I don't think we want Facebook "engineers" redeployed anywhere else. It took 12 of them to write this new profile page. I'd prefer they spend their time on things I don't use.

    60 Minutes even covered this last night. What blew my mind was the fact that they had 12 "engineers" working full time to build this new profile page. If the data and backend systems are logically designed then this redesign should be very easy. So either these "engineers" are low skilled or their systems are a mess.

    I don't know anyone who "invites a friend" on the GameCenter who doesn't know them in person. Unless you're friending people you randomly find in forums this isn't an issue.

    If you're not an Apple customer why would you care what people's reaction is? Or are you just a hater?

    My government's assessment and true opinion of Russia's leadership should be public knowledge. I can not be certain that I'm being represented fairly if I don't know what my representatives are thinking.

    The bailouts were temporary purchases which are already in the works to be resold. The government made no stock votes on the running of those companies. I would agree with you if he socialized the U.S. car industry, but he hasn't.

    "Pushing" doesn't make it public. The health care system is still very much privatized. Everyone is still on private health insurance.

    Sorry, but I still don't see how anything he's done is more left than other presidents. I'm wishing the Democrats were more left, but I'm just not seeing it.

    No doubt. The current increase in energy prices is due as much (if not more) to increased margins as currency devaluation.

    So medicare and social security were less "leftist" than something Obama has done? Please state anything which he's done which is more "left" than those programs.

    Obama has engaged the government in traditionally private marketplaces in America in ways not really seen since Freddie and Fannie were put into place.

    Examples? Claiming he's the most "left-leaning" in American history while providing no examples isn't helping your argument.

    Because there's more to it than just prices. Small increases to inflation generally equate to companies increasing revenue. As revenue increases companies hire more people, lowering unemployment and therefore increasing consumer spending.

    Prices going up doesn't mean everything else is stagnant. It generally means increased incomes and more jobs, assuming the inflation is slow and steady.

    You are aware, of course, that "the right" was invited to many meetings. They didn't show up and then told the press "the left" was unwilling to compromise. If the Republicans weren't willing to even enter the room, they were the ones who left themselves out of the conversation.

    I guess you haven't read any bills. The health care bill, for example, was a huge compromise. Without the compromised it wouldn't have passed at all.

    From the perspective of a conservative, his is THE most left-leaning and partisan Presidency to date.

    Only a misinformed conservative. There are Republican presidents in recent history who were more "left-leaning". Obama didn't pass anything as big or as influential to our society as Social Security, Medicare, or the interstate highway system.

    Why wouldn't they deny shell usage for the average user and put a fancy way to access files on top of your jailed file system?

    Seriously??? Maybe because there's zero benefit for them? They would lose tons of customers and 3rd party developers the very next day. How would locking down the existing system benefit them?

    It's not whether or not they can do it or want to do it, because it's pretty clear that they can and want to.

    How is it clear? What previously open system have they ever locked down? Just because their phones are locked down doesn't mean their desktops and laptops are next.
