Depending on what you are doing, an SSD drive can last as long, or longer, than a spinning disc drive with the newer models. They are getting really good:)
And yet they are using drones to do the same thing that the satellites "may" be able to do...albeit afaik, the drones scan a much smaller surface area....but I'm making assumptions here, and not stating any facts...well...this is/. after all.
It may be that I can't differentiate fiction from non-fiction, but doesn't the US military have satellites with the capabilities of infrared viewing and detection that would perform the same task but with much greater efficiency, given the satellite(s) is/are in the area required to locate the individual, plus with a much greater scope or area that can be tracked at any given moment? I play Call of Duty darnit, and we all know that the Call of Duty franchise is based 100% in truth and doesn't lie!:P
Depending on your definition, usage, and/or context of "a few"...which could also mean "more than 2, less than 5"...or since we are talking about "a few million" out of 100 million, this could also go upwards of 10-15 million...:P
You did the math right, but the cache line tag logic and coupled CAM are negligible. Sure, they may add a few million or so, but not anywhere near 5% of 100M.
Umm, "a few million" is around 4 to 5 million...which can equate to "about 5% of 100 million"...so yeah, I take that to mean somewhere near and potentially exceeding 5% of 100 million. Just to be anally retentive.
The one thing I don't mind eating from McDonalds...their fake ice cream in a cone (which isn't even really cone shaped, is it?). They don't taste, smell, or feel like ice cream, but I still love them:P
Or a few atom wide specific needle in a stack of almost completely identical needles using only a magnifying glass and a cup of "joe" to keep him going. I hope they have an ET version of Starbucks up there. That's also assuming that there are males of their species...otherwise replace "him" with "her" or "it".
That's just crap. "Lets be less efficient so we can get more money!" That's not the mindset devs or sysadmin should ever be in. I can't think of a career where less efficient just for greed is a good thing. Always strive to be better than what you are.

A bug in the interface forces the translation to: while (true) { PunchYourself(); }
I was going to be anonymous, then I took an arrow in the knee.

I work as a programmer for the county in which I live. I hit 10 years last month. So yeah, I'd say I'd make it just fine in the public sector.

Zombies...in search for brains...will walk right past me and leave me alone...[un]fortunately...
