I assume he means that it will be built into Time Warner cable boxes, and you just pay for the service? My Time Warner box already has video on demand that I can pause/ff/rw, so I assume everyone will have "Mystro", but only some will pay for it. Unless you live in the godless wilds of some alternate cable carrier that is...
as FFVII. Unnoticed, but released at almost the same time as FFVII, hard to find in th US, was the true role-playing revolution of the 90's. Panzer Dragoon Azel (Panzer Dragoon Saga) was made by Sega's Team Andromeda for the Sega Saturn, and in my opinion, crushed Final Fantasy Seven in every way possible. Real Time Fighting, Unlimited character exploration/evolution, Beautiful graphics, and an incredible world, any true fan of RPG's should take a look on ebay and think about spending the $200 that a single copy of this game goes for! Square, being Sony's whore at the time, got more recognition, but in my estimation, Team Andromeda was the victor,
Okay, now this is very nice for the people that have access to this kind of service, which will be a small percentage, even once if it was fully deployed. Because, they will only lay this kind of bandwidth where it is finacnially profitable. Any are where said profitability exists, will already have very decent bandwidth options, and now they will have another one. But, until the federal goverment takes up the charge of a creating an information economy for Everyone and places some mandates on infrastructure branching out, these options will still be for very few, and i, living 30 minutes outside of NYC will still have my crappy 28.8 dialup! ARRRRRGH!
I think that this is the exception, not the rule.. I live in new york, where people wait for the village voice the night before it comes out at the publishers, and every apartment is gone by 11AM the next morning. As always, the way to avoid this is: "lots of money". But i don't see the internet helping in this at all, because of the above mentioned time constraint.
Okay, i will avoid the WAY TOO EASY crack on "Canadian Officials", and simply point to the fact that many people, especially those responsible for large chunks of digital life as we know it, including Richar Stallman, emacs guru, and Jamie Zawinsky, mozilla guru, suffer from something, whatever you want to call it. You should really take a look at Jamie Zawinski's excellent page dealing with this fact, and only expect it to get more and more important as we progress into the age where people are typing starting at age 5.
I remember reading an article about a guy who bolted two of these to his couch a few years back after finding them at a swap meet for $9. He said that it really makes you feel the base, and a FAQ can be found Here.
The reason this will never work, is because, in my eyes, mandrake is for newbies. I loved mandrake, now it makes me sick. Are any uses that have used for more than a year THAT loyal to mandrake?
Sure, it's already being done, but the REALLY SCARY part is that those behind it aren't even people, but vast, shambling THINGS! Bob save us, and his divine minister Art Bell
While this is a cool little hack, but if you are interested in going all the way to frankenstein mp3 decoding car audio system glory check out www.mp3car.com
This "article" is biased from the getgo, and I smell a familiar stench of elitism. This "Real programmers don't use " is getting tired. The author does allow that he is not informed on enterprise level needs/development, but from my sandbox, OOD is the best thing since slice(bread). When coding for a paycheck, freeflow art usually doesn't last/can't be maintained/extended/scaled. OOD provides a great framework if you think OOP constantly.
Well, The GD-ROM stands for Gigabyte Disc, as it stores 1.2 gig. Sooo, there is still the space limitation..Which has always been solved by stripping out good stuff! I'll continue to support my Sega, thanks
