Wow, sounds like an underserved market... So you want a store that carries the item you want so you can buy it NOW.. In your case, a durable home appliance. I'm wondering, did you think to try Lowes or Home Depot at the time? They sell appliances too.

Best Buy seems to be a bit under staffed here too. Actually, most retailers do around here. However there are at least 4 Best Buy stores within a 5 min drive from me and they always seem full. The issue here though is finding people willing to work retail and accept the pay. Our unemployment numbers have been 1% under the national for awhile and we are approaching a point where you simply cannot find low cost labor for retail work anymore.

I'm just not sure we can know just how much man's activity is responsible, and we obviously are not able to accurately forecast what it really means. So far, in the last 2 decades we've only proven that we are horrible at predicting the future with our climate models, and even worse at predicting the actual effects of the changes.

Finally, we'd be remiss to not mention that fossil fuels have been a key energy source driving the industrial revolution and massive advances in the world's standard of living. There would be a lot more death, illness and starvation without fossil fuels. Are you ready to give up all the advances and do away with fossil fuels? You miss my point I guess.. AM's wave length is soooo long that the sizes of the necessary wire to collect enough of it for your receiver to actually receive it at a reasonable signal to noise ratio is pretty big. Sure, if you have a 50K Watt station next door, the signal will be great for that station, but you are not going to get the same kind of reception of say the radio in your car.

I dare to say you won't be happy with the ability of an AM receive function in a cell phone. It just won't be sensitive enough.

Without a reasonable sized antenna you won't pick up squat unless the transmitter is literally in the next block. 15. Re:You could have AM radio. on Future Samsung Phones Will Have a Working FM Radio Chip (androidpolice.com) · · Score: 4, Informative

Me thinks you severely underestimate the size of the required antennas. FM at about 100Mz has a wave length of about 3 meters and AM frequencies are between 400 and 500 meters. FM is doable in a cell phone's size but it's going to be a tight fit. AM is going to get pretty big and heavy pretty quick and I doubt that even a ferrite core antenna will make it in your average cell phone successfully. If you don't have some minimum fraction of a wavelength in your antenna, your receiver will pick up almost nothing so I'd expect that nifty AM receiver to struggle even if you have a 50KW station a mile away.

LOL.. The argument here though is two fold... 1. That Global Warming is happening and 2. Oil Companies are to blame.

I think #1 is likely true. The climate has changed multiple times in the past, there is no reason to argue it's not happening now.

However #2 is a horse of a different color. I'm not sure we actually KNOW that the current warming trend is entirely man made, or that it wouldn't be happening even if we hadn't gone though the industrial revolution. Remember, Correlation does not imply causation, it *may* suggest it, but it doesn't prove it. Given that the science behind this specific part of the question is far from conclusive, especially on the how much contribution fossil fuel use has actually contributed to this, the courts will have difficulty finding fault or calculating liability of a specific company if they do. Remember that much of our climate modeling has shown to be inconsistent with reality over time, a fact that doesn't bode well for declaring something "proved" in a legal setting.

Fossil fuel energy was a necessary step for modern civilisation, few would argue against that. The issue is that once we knew more about the many negative factors that came with it, we should've quickly started the long process of transitioning to alternative sources with a lot less negatives - but the fossil fuel companies have deliberately and provably obscured that knowledge and impeded those efforts, to their own benefit and to the great detriment of society as a whole. They should be held accountable for all the damage and health costs that could have been avoided, in that time and in the future.

That's garbage talk there... The oil companies suppressed nothing, they produced energy at the lowest possible cost is all.

What happened is fossil fuels remained cheaper than the alternative so the ROI wasn't there to justify alternate sources of energy. The market chooses the cheapest viable alternative. That was fossil fuels. The oil companies just delivered us what we where willing to pay for.

So, in your parlance and using your logic, the problem was regulation that didn't make fossil fuels more expensive... So government is the problem, if we use your logic.

Not that I agree, I think fossil fuels are a fine thing myself and has contributed mightily to the creation of wealth and increased standards of living world wide.
