Now imagine that you're the target of a large movement filled with very angry people and you receive a number of credible threats...

You will then understand what its like to be ProGG. Milo got used syringes and dead animals sent to his house from people that didn't agree with him on his articles or his stance on GG.

Here is why Neutrals in this debate exist:

ProGG: Revolves around ethics in journalism, but also fighting against people that are basically neo-puritans that think that if a woman isn't wearing a burqa in a game, then she is revealing too much skin... but also say that slut shaming and body shaming is bad. The fight for the ProGG side is many different things. I'm about 50/50 split between Ethics and keeping SJWs out of gaming culture. They already destroyed enough cultures. The way I see it is that the current ethics problem is due to the SJW indie clique that controls most of the gaming media sites. So really, fighting for ethics happens to be the same thing as fighting the SJWs out of gaming culture

There are people that are purely in the fight for ethics, and other people that are in it because they hate SJWs. So it really comes down to a combination of things

AntiGG: Says that ProGG are misogynists. Regularly violate journalistic ethics to give their friends in their indie clique a leg up. Basically part of the problem. They say they fight for a more inclusive culture in gaming, but the only way things can be inclusive for them is if every hero in a game was a Female Non-Binary Queer PoC.

The neutrals are here because both sides are having two completely different conversations. My friend said GG was a bunch of bullshit harassers until I showed him what was really going on. Now he stays a bit in the neutral side, because he does what most of us should be doing - Just playing fucking games. The problem is that most AntiGG folks seem to NOT be gamers, and are more interested in changing things to fit their whims.

I think that a lot of the problem in the work place is not institutionalized sexism, but the problem of high profile incidents that make people be worried about hiring female staff. Take the whole incident where the one woman put two guys on blast for making a stupid joke about the word "Dongle" at a tech conference. When you see high profile cases like that come up, naturally people in an already male dominated field are going to be more defensive and not as open to having females with them in the field for fear of being put on blast in public. Combine that with the worry and fear of sexual harassment lawsuits that can be filed pretty much on a whim and can be a death sentence for someone's career, it creates a barrier for women. I work in a place right now where I've been told to be EXTREMELY careful about the wording I use around the female employees. Our workplace will sooner fire me than hear my side of the story so that they don't get a law suit. And its happened here before. Twice. I thank god I work after hours support and I don't have to deal with the regular staff.

So let's take a walk over to the GamerGate clubhouse and see if the topics are about "cis-gendered white males" or Brianna Wu, Zoe Quinn, and other women and minorities.

Nobody talks about Zoe Quinn anymore. She keeps trying to shove herself into the spotlight for VitimBux, but nobody is biting anymore. Wu has only had two topics made about her in KIA in recent memory - One about her getting her mod status revoked at Ghazi, and one to this topic. The other two topics about minorities or women on KiA right now is one that involves (SURPRISE!) an disclosure failure on Playboys site (yay ethics!), and a post that we should be giving support to two female devs, not because they have vaginas, but because they are known for their amazing work on the series they previously worked on. They are looking to make a new game away from their old dev studios.

Let's not play. The reason you're in this conversation is because "Brianna Wu" was in the title of the article.

Im here because /. isn't blocked at work and Im bored. It's not like I don't post in the site in other places.

Honestly, I was hoping that the post was so chan-ish that you didn't think I was being serious. I guess that my post was too strong with the Poe (until the last part, which you completely ignored).

On a serious note, I've done work for the GSA for a long time when I was in HS and in college. I've done support counseling for LGBT youth. I know the pain that they go through, and what little voice they sometimes have. When that voice is coopted by some straight white dude trying to impress his friends, its a complete disgrace.
