    I'm pretty used to this type of brow-beating. Question: Does that imply (that) because I am a programmer and Carl Popper is one of the people I most admire that I'm am idiot? (it's ok, I won't be offended if that's where you were going)

    The universe may just start to make more sense (it does for me) - when the science becomes (wait for it ... ) predictive.

    yea, you'd think; maybe they'll make up something else that has the EXACT properties to fit their equations.

    I think 'frozen' magnetic fields are my favorite so far, but the 'dark' brothers are pretty loony too.

    There's this guy who won a Nobel (~1970 or so), his last name is Arp, he's got some ideas (well, he did whe he was alive) that don't involve 'dark'|'frozen' anythings and (wait for it) are predictive! (hint: a good place to start would be how redshift is defined)

    I assume Prof. Popper would approve.

    give up on copyright - heh, patents too, eh?

    I agree copyright is broken - getting longer instead of shorter, subverting fair use, protecting old buisiness models from K St. (that's where the lobbyist live kids) and patents are severly abused (show me the source, maybe?) but give me a break.

    and I resent being lumped in with those religious [people] .. I'm a liberal/libertarian (maybe vis-versa, I dunno) who happens to think that those systems can and will be fixed (sooner or later)

    I read everything I can get my hands on concerning 'global warming' and I'm convinced - absolutely, positively, 100%, convinced that nobody should be (even close to) convinced that anthropogenic global warming is real.

    Too many people - not enough people, big chill - it's gonna be an oven, not enough oil - plenty of oil, on and on and on ....

    Remember, all scientist get funding from someone they have to 'agree' with, not just the ones (someone) happens to disagree with - that knife cuts both ways.

    If it is your conclusion that my previous post reflects how _I_ will treat my future employees you are mistaken. But they will know that's how I feel about it, when it's all said and done, as is said, before they work one (wonderful :-) minute for me.

    I wonder how one screens applicants to avoid hiring people like Steve here in the first place? One day I will have my own business and there's no way I want some judge telling me I have to provide soft toilet paper to my employees because I'm a pain in the ass.

    My response to the original post is I'd bet unless you have a contract ( ... I'm skipping a lot here ...) he could pay you 1/2 your salary starting tomorrow (at which point you should probably quit) and demand you have a cell phone he can call 24/7. That's the way I understand the laws here in Tennessee; I grew-up elsewhere and it seems to me it was different there, so it probably varies by state - but they're all moving that way. Remember, a job is not a right.

    (back to Steve) ... and if you unionized on me I'd fold the business and start over - parasite
