Tourette's or TS) is an inherited neuropsychiatric disorder with onset in childhood, characterized by the presence of multiple physical (motor) tics and at least one vocal (phonic) tic; these tics characteristically wax and wane. Tourette's is defined as part of a spectrum of tic disorders, which includes transient and chronic tics. Tourette syndrome
Not likely that a led scanner "caused" tourrette's.
.50 BMG caliber rifles have lengths usually between four and five feet (1.2-1.5 meters) and weights from 20 to 40 pounds (10–20 kg).50 BMG the wespon's mass tones down the recoil quite a bit, but still it's not for the faint-of-heart shooter.
These Snowlife use the 3DO shear thickening material. You can get this material in a variety of garments to protect the back, sides, knees, shins, elbows, shoulders and head.
The dE/dT applies quite strongly here, the dE/dT is much lower for the shooter because the dT is longer as the projectile is accelerated through the barrel, at the other end the bullet either is stopped with a very short dT or it penetrates. The material in the article would be very useful in a layered approach; such as worn as a tee shirt with more conventional body armor providing the majority of protection.
OK I looked at the album cover and then looked at the law which said
(a) In General.— Any person who, in a circumstance described in subsection (d), knowingly produces, distributes, receives, or possesses with intent to distribute, a visual depiction of any kind, including a drawing, cartoon, sculpture, or painting, that—
(1)(A) depicts a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct; and
(A) Except as provided in subparagraph (B), “sexually explicit conduct” means actual or simulated—
(i) sexual intercourse, including genital-genital, oral-genital, anal-genital, or oral-anal, whether between persons of the same or opposite sex;
(ii) bestiality;
(iii) masturbation;
(iv) sadistic or masochistic abuse; or
(v) lascivious exhibition of the genitals or pubic area of any person; 2256. Definitions for chapter
(B) is obscene; or
(2)(A) depicts an image that is, or appears to be, of a minor engaging in graphic bestiality, sadistic or masochistic abuse, or sexual intercourse, including genital-genital, oral-genital, anal-genital, or oral-anal, whether between persons of the same or opposite sex; and
(B) lacks serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value; 1466A. Obscene visual representations of the sexual abuse of children
and I'll be honest while the cover is more risqué, than I might have chosen personally, it doesn't fit any reasonable definition of obscene that I'm aware of and doesn't depict a minor in a sexually explicit act.
The IAU’s definition decrees that a dwarf planet must orbit the Sun, must not be a satellite of another planet, must not have cleared its orbit of debris (like larger planets do) and it must be of sufficient mass to assume a nearly round shape. They also state that dwarf planets should be of a certain brightness, which is only possible with objects with a radius of more than 420 km.
You know 40 years ago people were saying that the "big oil companies" were buying up patents so the 100MPG carburetors wouldn't get to market and destroy their business plan, so you know what happened, the patents ran out and companies started make these wonder devices and they either worked less efficient than the modern computer controlled fuel injector systems we have now or they didn't work at all. If I had invented such a wondrous device, why would I or anyone sell out to one company when I could license to all of them? Hell I'd be as rich as Bill Gates and the oil companies would be delivering my royalty checks via hookers in limos that had cocaine in the sugar bowls, if I had invented one of these to-good-to-be-true disruptive devices!
Sorry but the real world doesn't work that way; yes I know Microsoft does it to little MomAndPop software houses, but that's small potatoes compared to real disruptive technology.
I remember an Article published in Sci Am that stated that for a Russian 50Kt warhead to have a 50% of knocking out a Minuteman III silo the warhead would have to detonate within 300m of the silo, a half mile is about 800m. Also the debris raised by one detonation would prevent other warheads (traveling aprox. 15,000 MPH) from reaching their targets intact while we could launch through it.

Actually because it's a 3-wheeler it's technically a motorcycle, one of the things about land speed records is there is something for everybody. If you strapped a weed-whacker engine to a street luge, there is probably a class for running it.
A 14 gm can with 252 grams of Red Bull inside at throwing speed is more than enough to break an eye socket, or shatter a temple. If you care to volunteer for some testing, I know some high school kids that can throw such a can about 120Km/Hr; then you could opine with some authority about whether it was "serious" damage or not.
When ever in causal conversation scientology comes up I simply say; John Trivolta is to a Scientologist like Charleton Heston to a Christian Fundamentalist, "Battlefield Earth" is to a Scientologist like "The Ten Commandments" is to a Christian Fundamentalist, then I put "Battlefield Earth" in the DVD player and let them decide for themselves! Gee I wish Tom Cruise was in it too. If "Battlefield Earth" doesn't convince them I put The Profit in next.
Are you talking about Airbus style fly-by-wire or Boeing style Fly-by-wire? In the Airbus the pilot flies the computer and the computer flies the plane, computers crash and so does the Airbus; In the Boeing style the pilot flies the plane the computer helps but the pilot is boss.
If there is a hard to define race condition locking up systems on the cars due to a software bug, it may be triggered by a bit getting flipped that is assumed to be an impossible event, this could be caused by a hardware glitch, a voltage spike, a cosmic ray strike or any combination.
A root server, serves the DNS querys for a global domain such as.com. how it works is when your computer asks for the addresses for slashdot.org, your ISP probably knows the address because someone else has asked, if not your ISP asks the next higher level which is more likely to know because the answer to more queries. Eventually it get to the root server if the intermediate steps fail. As the answering server gets farther up the longer it takes for you to get the answer. Each query answered has a TTL, time to live, to it so an answer might be good for 24 hours. When a root server is borked, it means that even when they fix it or use a different root server it can take hours or days for all the bad answers to clear out of the DNS system.
I was thinking that if the home's appliances could talk to the meter, say over the homes power-lines, like the x10 controllers, themselves to get electric-grid condition updates, they could be programmed to operate in various degrees of power-saving modes or even have your plug-in hybrid go into a sell-back mode.
Are you denying that there is increased energy within the atmosphere and surface as result of increased CO2 in the atmosphere over the last fifteen years?
I see. You have no understanding of what acidification actually does. Are you claiming that increased CO2 dissolution in our oceans leads to greater biomass and has a net positive effect?
How about my getting a reduced rate at my message parlor and strip-club so the can cut my power to keep it going to the hospital's operating room or the homes of elderly who are temperature intollerant?
I think the idea is for the utility to be able to talk to your meter, to set peak and off-peak rates, adjust when peak and off-peak times are and to be able to do it in real time. This would be much preferable to brown-out and rolling black-outs we get in response to grid emergencies today. Eventually your appliances would be able to query the meter and respond in a reasonable manner. For example I might decide when at normal peak to have the AC set for 74, high peak 78 and emergency to shutoff completely. In an emergency I might have the electric range oven shut off if the freezer needs to turn on and the computer go into hibernate after 5 minutes of inactivity. Being able to do stuff like this could mean millions in saving for both the utilities and consumer each year but also reduces the intolerance for insecurities to the system. Some have propose having electric cars and hybrids being able to negotiate with the electric utilities on whether to charge or not and to even be able to sell back electricity at a profit.

If you have people voting from their graves, you might have a bigger problem then where the district line is drawn?
or am i missing something?
Yes in Chicago, many dead people are registered and vote "Mayor Daley of Chicago "found" tens of thousands of dead people to "vote" for John F. Kennedy in the 1960 election," .

Dude, if your that addicted, just hand edit your Hosts file for slashdot, Youtube and facebook or roll your own bind server.
