Competitors can also get their hands on the source code. Also, anyone that downloads the source can also compile it and release it for free. If it got popular enough, it would effectively put the company out of business. well then they should right their own code and quit leeching off the good nature of free software developers. No you gain the license to distribute by agreeing to and following license terms, any distribution without a license to distribute is a violation of copyright laws. Illegal distribution is punishable by severe civil penalties. If any of the copyright holders have registered the copyrights with the US Copyright office it becomes willfull; multiply the number of boxes distributed by the hundreds or thousands of wronged authors by the $250,000 fines and it can easily exceed all of the money on the palnet!

I expect the prices will equilibrate in the $60.00-80.00 range before long. You can make glazing out of rock salt, just place some salt in a pan add some water and let it crystalize into a sheet. This glazing will easily transmit IR and make a model greenhouse out of it. Make a copy of the salt greenhouse out glass glazing which will almost completely block IR and put both out in the sunlight; you'll see little or no difference in the temperatures in each greenhouse. Try it and you'll see why real climatologist have avoid the term greenhouse.
The stuff NASCAR turns left in isn't skinned that much thicker than a soda-pop can and they bounce 'em off the walls between 100-150 MPH pretty regular and without too many injuries because they put the weight where it counts in the cage, everything else is disposable. If the shit hits the fan the metal skin is just one more thing for the jaws to chomp through before they get you out.
