    Ok... how's this look?

    1). Make your money in your favorite photo editing software.

    2.) Take it to CompUSA/MicroCenter/Frys on a USB Thumb Drive.

    3.) Pop the thumb drive into one of those new printers with the ability to print from there.

    4.) Print Cash in one of their demo printers.

    5.) Use Cash to buy printer.

    6.) Return Printer.

    7.) Get Real Cash.

    8.) Profit.

    Seems complex, but... I have to run... I'm off to CompUSA.

    Your theory has a flaw in it, as well. The earth's "average" temperature dropped 22 degrees. That means that in some portions of the world, where bees live, their temperatrue could have dropped below it's normal cold point by 22 degrees, freezing them in the process, for a year or so.

    Problem solved - some bees survived, just like some of those delicate amphibians survived. Larger numbers means larger chance of at least a few surviving.

    Sorry, my "street-cred" doesn't reach back the year before to Wolfenstein.

    Actually, Wolfenstien was years before Doom... I used to play it on my Atari 400 and my Apple ][. It was "Wolfenstien 3D" that was just a year or so before Doom.

    but my plane has been flying for years by a brain... mine! And their's can only maintain Pitch and Roll... Mine can do so much more... I can maintain Pitch, Roll AND YAW, track a VOR while listening to ATC, managing my Fuel, yada, yada, yada. Heck... my plane can even fly itself without a "animal" brain... with my AutoPilot.

    But seriously, all kidding a side... when I was in College, a few years ago, ahem, I studied Artifical Intelligence. What they are doing seems like a logical thing to do... instead of trying to create "artificial" intelligence... why no utilize what nature has provided and use "real" intelligence instead. This can lead to a much better understanding and enable us to, in the future, develop better artifical solutions.

  7. Blimps to enforce TFR on 19th Century Airship Technology for Port Security · · Score: 1

    The other day, VP Dick Cheney was in town (Cincinnati) for one of his political events. While he was visiting, there was a blimp orbiting Lunken Airport (where he was arriving and departing.) There was a TFR (Temporary Flight Restriction) in effect for the Lunken Airport (LUK) as well as for Clermont County Airport (I69) during his visit. I'm based at Blue Ash Airport (ISZ) and that blimp was there the entire time of his visit. There were no visible markings on it and it certaintly wasn't at 70,000 ft (I'd say 3000') but it sure was there. We suspected they were "enforcing" the TFR.

    A couple of corrections about Moller's abomination. He has "self funded" his development to the tune of about $200 million over the past 30 years. He has several "inventions" that he has patented and sold to fund his development efforts. Also, his "SkyCar" concept vehicle doesn't use 4 engines, it uses 8 engines... two in each pod for redundancy. (Kind of like the Soviets using 32 rocket engines on there N1 rocket, as opposed to the Saturn V rockets 5 Engines.)

    30 G's??? I'd say that last millisecond was more like 300 G's. :-)

    Exactly where did you see that the new Graphics System isn't going to be in it. Everything I've read from respectble news agencies (if there is such a thing) articles says that only WinFS is being delayed. Nothing from Microsoft or any other source (execpt the unrespected Register.com) says that Avalon is being removed... infact, they are devloping Indigo and Avalon for "downlevel" clients... which means that they are also going to run Indigo (the Web Service Based Communications Sub System) and Avalon (the Graphical Sub System) on Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

    Two points. One, we're already planning on contaminating the planet, err, moon. The EU's Huygens probe will decend in a few months to study the atmosphere and surface features. (By the way... If Titan wasn't captured by Saturn, it would be considered a planet.)

    Point two... you seem to think that our ethics apply to other worlds - remember, they are our believes/values. Applying them to another world doesn't make sense. What we should really do is study from afar, and if we can determine that our efforts can be non intrusive to the development of the natural processes, then we should take every opportunity to do such and learn all we can.

    Because he is using TransHab as his model, he is also using the system designed for protecting it. The cool thing about TransHab is that it's outer shell is made of a ballistic material matrix (including Kevlar, etc.) which is resistent to penetration by micrometorites and is even capable of "bouncing" back from large impacts - like what happened to MIR. Typical Space Station construction (a.k.a. Alumiminum Can Construction) is not able to withstand impacts of that magnitude with out buckling or worse, pressure loss.

    We Americans have the only 12 people (or Earthicans) to ever set foot on the Moon! Yep... there are 6, count them, 6 American flags on the Moon. (Along with at least 6 Lander Platforms and 3 Lunar Rovers!)

    Did you even read the article? He didn't say that Microsoft had 50 "disruptive lawsuits" up their sleeves... he said that Microsoft is going to face 50 lawsuits from people sueing them. His point was that someone smaller, like RedHat couldn't withstand that kind of judgement against them because of their limited resources.

    Ok... the UN and the entire world had proof that Iraq had WMD... because he used them on the Kurdish people in 1988. (http://www.terrorismanswers.com/weapons/mustard.h tml)

    There was, however, no proof that thoses weapons were destroyed or dismanteled. All that anybody was really asking for was proof of those weapons as well as any other weapons programs that existed were destroyed.

    None was ever given... and given that fact and the fact that he used them before, we must conclude that he STILL had them.

    One clarification... ALL pilots are glider pilots. All Airplanes are "by defualt" gliders. Some don't glide as well as others, but they all fly because they can glide. For example, the first thing a pilot is trained to do when an engine failure, etc, occurs is to get the plane into it's best possible glide speed. That way, they have the longest amount of time to figure out how (if possible) to correct a problem. The second thing we do is to find a ditch point, perferrably within the glide distance available to the aircraft. Then we work the problem to figure out if it can be corrected. If not, we ditch.

    The facts clearly point out the advances we have made.

    Think about this. More Black and Decker Cordless Power Drills (and their clones) have been sold worldwide to totally fund NASA more than 10 times over. (That includes everything that NASA has ever spent - including back when they were NACA.)

    That is only ONE siginficant technology developed for the space program and used in the civilian world. Some others include Water Filters (the kind you use in your home.) Smoke Detectors and even the Insulation you put in your house.

    There are many, many others.
