  1. Re:The iPod tastes like fluffy caramel. on iPods are for Audiophiles · · Score: 1

    How is that fluff?

That is the way you describe sound, just because you can't understand the language doesn't make it any more 'fluff' then the ways that are used to describe anything technical.

Dynamics refers to the range or levels of the sound, soft to loud. Impressive dynamics means that you can hear a wide range of sound.

Imaging refers to where the sound appears to come from when you are listening. Ideally you should be able hear where all the instruments are located.

Frequency Extremes refers to the highest and lowest frequencies, which are typically the ones that sound the most distorted with a poor quality system.

most of the respectcopyrights.org site full of FUD, but this quote is outstanding.

If movies make hundreds of millions of dollars, how is my one pirated copy of a film going to have any affect on the bottom line?

Actually, only 1 in 10 studio films makes its money back from being shown in US theaters, and only 4 in 10 studio films makes its money back -- ever.
    *snip*

awww, you are breaking my heart. maybe if hollywood didn't make so many shitty movies this wouldn't happen.

I can't recall any good movie not making its money back and then some. I wonder why that is.
  5. Re:Stop stealing. on Filesharing Up 10% After RIAA Threatens Users · · Score: 1

they charge you $20-50 because bands make their living from concerts, only really big name groups actually profit (to any real degree) from CD sales.

bands that are against file sharing are against it because their label tells them they are. file sharing is nothing but a good thing (especially for smaller name bands), it provides much better exposure then radio or MTV (which typically play only a handful of songs at a time). More exposure means more people coming out to their concerts, and more money for the band directly.

  19. booooo on Kids and Computers · · Score: 1

There is a gap between the rich and the poor?
    Really?
And the rich get more advantages then the poor?
    Wow.

This is a choice quote right here:
"It's tough to imagine a more urgent moral issue than the fate of children without access to computers or the Net"
You are not serious right? How about not having enough money for food, shelter, clothes, etc.
I think that might be a bit more pressing to someone then downloading MP3s and Porn.
    Think before you write.

    Here is another:
"It also revealed children's access to computers and the Net varies wildly with family income. A little more than 22 per cent of children in families with annual incomes of less than $20,000 had access to a home computer, compared with 91 percent of those in families with incomes of more than $75,000."
This just in....rich people can afford more things then poor people!
What a meaningless statistic that was...

    And another:
"And they almost never have access to broadband, beyond limited time on school and library computers."
No Broadband is hardly a life threatening issue Katz

Come on Katz, give us a break here.
The system is designed to seperate the rich from the poor...the rich have advantages over the poor because they can afford things...computers are just one more of them.

The real problem is the growing gap between the rich and the poor, plus the fact that the government is starting to care less and less about the lower class. But Hey! Once computers are involved we better help them out!

Bah, I am tired of this,

Go away Katz, you are not a geek, you just play one on TV.

  21. Good Movie, Bad Ending on Review: "Unbreakable" · · Score: 1

Well, an absolutely horrible ending ruined an otherwise good movie for me.
I mean, what the hell were those captions about?
They felt so tacked on, rushed, and out of place, all I could think about was the "Poochie" Episode of the simpsons...
"Note: Poochie died on the way back to his home planet"

I can think of 10 other ways to end the movie that would have been more satisfying then that crap.

Do yourself a favor, go see the movie, and leave in the last five minutes.
