Okay, so how is this something other than Yet Another Widget Platform?
Granted, the inclusion of Flash would make for a much, errm, flashier widgeteering system, but other than that, it sounds like essentially the same thing Konfabulator, Apple, and Microsoft have already shipped.
On the other hand, if a company is healthy, there is a public outcry to keep them out of town (Walmart), tax them more, or confiscate their revenues for some worthy cause (as Hillary wants to to do to the other US oil companies).
Those are your examples of healthy companies? Really?
And you honestly believe that their “health” is what causes people to act the way they do towards them?
I can only conclude that some spam list generators use dictionary attacks against MTAs, trying different usernames on known good domains until they find some userids where they don't get immediate bounces.
If that were happening, those of us using catchall addresses at our domains would be seeing spam all over the namespace. As it stands, over 95% of my spam is to addresses used with this slashdot account, although it usually takes a month or three for an address to start getting hit.
I guess I just see it as such a waste to clone something like that; if you’re gonna put forth the effort required to get something like that up and running, how about some improvement? I’m a pretty serious FlickrWhore, and I sure as hell don’t think it’s a perfect paradigm with no room for improvement.
But then again, maybe in six months I’ll be a huge ZoomrWhore instead. Who can say?
I wonder how much this has to do with the pre part of 802.11 pre-N and whether any other companies are trying to figure out how to deal with the same issue. (Ya know, the kind of companies that don’t currently have auditors checking His Steveness for polyps.)
As someone who raises hermit crabs*, I can relate. Those things can be insanely creepy when viewed close up. And I’ve always said that the difference between cockroaches and lobsters is merely a question of scale.
*It’s primarily my girlfriend’s project, but still.
You participated in a few discussions here about three years ago under this username and I had that account marked as a Friend. Had you logged in with those same credentials today, a bunch of us would have been certain you were you.
That said, good to see ya again, and keep up the good fight!
I just received my card in the mail yesterday. I like that the list of phone numbers on the back starts with the White House switchboard.

Little Snitch from ObDev.
BBEdit or TextWrangler from Bare Bones Software.
Opera.

Would that be the Dastardly RawSockets Module?
But they’re not one of us. We are people. They’re a fictional entity, essentially an overgrown contractual agreement. And a public one at that.

I’ve been a fan of Mike Hawk’s photography for a while now, but man, Zoomr couldn’t really be a more blatant clone of Flickr if it tried.
But there’s no harm in exercising a bit of vigilance, right?
But what if you had a million Chihuahuas and a buck? What would Madonna pay John Kerry to do then, huh smart guy?
Yeah, good point. I was going for the “crawling up his ass” visual there. But isn’t he totally cured, or is he just in remission?

You, for one, must have meant sashimi.
By that logic a fax machine is a web server, since somebody can call and request a page be sent to them.
I’ve been saying for years that we need to stop electing millionaires.
Careful what ya wish for, I suppose.
You must have heard that a couple of years ago.
I am yet another atheist who doesn’t want them shut down. On the contrary, give them more attention, we love to ridicule fucktards like these!
Heh.
I bet if you do a second pass you can work the Care Bears in there somehow.
Fucking awesome.

Yes, that does worry me. In fact, to be honest, I believed that particular story at first.
Fortunately, that one was bullshit.
