Really? That surprises me. I would think that ALL of us have the capacity, but we are varied in the way our morality allows us to do that. Think of a mother, who is afraid for her child's life..

{Quote}Human beings, and mammals in general, have mainly survived because they developed compassion.{/Quote} I would submit that it is a balance between this, and of the article's point that have allowed us to survive this far. Without the capactiy to commit violence, bears / tigers / etc would most likely have eradicated our species long ago, I would think. The capacity for violence, indeed our LOVE of it, seems to me to be a huge part of the human psyche. But I'm not a psychologist, so YMMV.. {Quote}A life without emotions, without empathy, is not life at all. I wished I had realized that sooner.{/Quote} I agree. This is what makes us different from a shark, despite our equally voracious appetite for violence. We aren't here just to kill and play hockey. We (well... most people) have more important things on our minds than just smashing the first person we see in the face with a big rock.

This guy should be given a medal. It's not often people will take personal risks for the greater good. Even some of those his actions were to benefit the most aren't properly thankful. I tip my hat to you sir.

A modern AAA Title? Like Battlefield, or Star Wars? Not like some POS 'droid game. (Not that they don't deserve to be paid for their work, just that I don't see how anything BUT those REAL AAA titles could be called that...)

Yes, your right, they already paid for it. Their money is gone. I don't think I'm missing the point. The $7 is apparently wasted. Sue them I guess would be another option. Good luck getting your $7 back then. The only real option from this point forward would be spreading the word, and as a poster above mentioned, this is really hard to do in the Marketplace. Poor rating being the only realistic thing to do. Bitch to Google? I bet they care.

Just so. Shady business practises are not limited to software vendors alone, although it seems to me like fraud and shabby business practises are EXPLODING on this front. Don't buy their shit. Ever. That's the only thing they will understand. Unfortunately, they probably already made some cash off of it, and now can turn around and build another, to repeat the process over again on unsuspecting consumers. Hopefully this kind of thing can be nipped by the Marketplace administrators, there does need to be some standards there about treating your customers so poorly (or plain stealing from them).

  8. Piracy vs our rights on The Pirate Bay On Track To Be Banned In the UK? · · Score: 1

The part that bugs me about taking down TPB, or any other copyright unfriendly site (whether it is or not) is that it sets a legal precedent for censoring anything on the net the Gov't deems inappropriate. The cost of many copyrighted materials is higher than I deem them to be worth, so I just don't pay for them. Neither do I pirate them. I was always the one telling people if they download some music or a good program that they like, and use, then they should PAY FOR IT. I will always stand by this, and I will ALSO always oppose those who seek to censor the net. There are 2 big reasons for gov't to want to censor the net: 1. Corporate lobbyists and 2. Quelling Civil disobedience. Neither is a good enough reason to censor the net.
