where do they get off saying that it HAS to prove evolution.... All the article says is that the genetic code was reused from creature to creature. The newest computer and the oldest both have silicon on them and both are CREATED... (okay, that one's kinda flimsy but still) A scientist says that it is proved and doesn't proceed to give the proof (in the mathematical/experimental sense that is) is not a SCIENTIST (as in using the scientific method) at all. The fact that both silverware and cars are made of steel and use the refining process does not give them any relation. So I'm a "fanatic"....the arguments for the other side are just as "fanatical".

Silly attachment to vehicles.... appartently you live in a nice hot city that doesn't get rain... I live in Canada and I would suggest that in the part where I live there is a NEED for vehicles that can climb icy hills and protect from elements. Even if you're not worried about ice and snow I can think that the average person is unwilling to deal with the elements.

Earlier people have mentioned about using it as encryption or as storage of some kind.... I know that you cannot read both the location and velocity of an electron (maybe that's irrlelevant) but is there a way to read the quantum state of the particles other than I guess shining a light at them to see what light comes out the other side... And what about just shining light at gasses like this to find out stuff about their quantum state before using light to interfere... does this serve some purpose perhaps???

Comparing Cola to water is stupid...This is more of a Coke to Pepsi challenge and with the base of OS X on BSD it is becoming harder and harder to taste the two apart without seeing the "better refreshing taste" of an OS that has been "factory" produced in nice cans as opposed to homebrewed stuff in recycled plastic bottles with the old junky labels still partially on (dual installs much?) Hardware prices.... mmmmm.... As I just checked into the laptops I would have to say that they are actually comparably priced. A nice iBook with a G3 400 ish processor (which actually is faster than a 400 x86 due to the CALCULATIONS/sec) with 128 Mb of RAM etc. will cost around $1500. An HP Laptop with aprox. the same stats, costs about the same, as do compaqs and IBMs.... Expensive hardeware; maybe in the past but do some resaerch and I think you'll be suprised!

While I agree in some regards..First: MAC IS NOT DYING...when was the last time you saw an ADVERTISMENT or a MOVIE...there is a wide range of graphic designers using this OS very happily. Secondly: In pricing things out, a comprable laptop system is just as expensive for the same hardware as things from compaq hp and ibm...I have thought about getting an iBook to install linux on with Mac OS even though I swore a couple years ago to never touch them again! Wake up world! People are CHOOSING MACs for jobs where there is some pretty good money. The are using the easy appletalk etc. networking that a child can figure out (plug the cord in the slot with the matching icon...wow HARD?). And don't forget HARDWARE! Another point...go to Asia...see what is in more use there...Mac OS is easy to configure for multiple languages and is beating out Windows overseas! Linux isn't the only computer revolution you know...

I still haven't figured everything out...but it has been VERY intuitive..I installed less than a week ago and the only thing that I still haven't figured out is why linux mandrake didn't ship with gcc so I can install stuff and how I can compile a version of gcc without first having gcc. Mac OS has done some good things for HIGH SCHOOLS but having to hold my jand over the cmd key wqhile playing warcraft 2 and not having any real power to adjust what the system is doing are good enough reasons to switch to windows (besides the software/hardware) and not having any real power to adjust what is going on as well as escape from all the silly windows bugs gets me to Linux...
