    MIPS32 is mostly similar to MIPS64. Same with SPARC32 and SPARC64. ARM32 and ARM64 are avery different

    Past a certain level if you want to reduce some contaminants the increase in cost can be exponential. So before having an opinion I would like to know is:

    What is the current limit? Is it reasonable? What is the cost? What is the new limit, it's cost, it's impact?

    Discussing this without knowing the specifics is an empty talk about how evil they are. We could have much more environmental friendly products if you are willing to pay 5000 for what now you pay 100 so it's important to establish a reasonable limit.

    The same reason x86 is the king. The software works in ARM. People want their software to just work. There are some Android devices with MIPS but they aren't a huge success.

    Google Maps uses artificial intelligence techniques with its gathered data so it needs less manual labor. OSM depends exclusively on manual labor. The bad is that if contributors aren't interested it's less complete than Google Maps (many places lack street numbers or aren't mapped). The good is that with people's interest the maps can be more refined than Google's.

    What I completely disagree about is the unimportant minutiae. It's these things the ones that separate great products from the rest.

    Yes, but depending on the place your can make a disservice to the waiter if you do that sort of things, especially in high level places. You can cause him problems with his boss or lower his performance assessment.

    I agree with you. Since a few years ago the only thing news worthy that the Unicode Consortium does is to release new stupid emojis. I thought that the race-variant emojis were stupid (the original ones were race neutral after all) but now they are releaseing gender-neutral? (again, the original emojis were gender-neutral until they decided to release female variants=. Its ridiculous. Soon the emojis font file will take 1 Gigabyte.

    Sometimes they buy companies that they think could be a menace to their business in the future. I think this is one of the reasons for Whatsapp's acquisition by Facebook.

    To reduce disk space there are at least a KDE runtime and a GNOME runtime and perhaps others so they aren't necessarily self-contained anymore.
