  1. Is it easier if ... on US Regaining Manufacturing Might With Robots and 3D Printing · · Score: 1

The US along with Canada and other major countries creates rules and regulation regarding the safety and quality of their products. Lots of organisation and magazines talk about chinese products shipped in Canada and US that are simply not safe to use....or even very dangerous. The list of product is so big but on top of my head, tops made in China comes to mind. They break very easily and most of those can either kill a child very easily because of the material they use are not great quality. Having those regulations would stop the import and thus creating more jobs here since the people would buy the products inside their own country (the US or canada) instead of importing them... just in idea

also, creating a rule for certain events that prohibits the manufacturing of products outside the country would certainly help. I mean, I saw vancouver olympic games products that said "made in China"... WTF IS THAT ??? I'm pretty sure the same situation applies in the us. What a shame

That might be 1 reason but that's not the whole situation. Like Phrogman here, I live in Quebec and most of the time, big businesses goes away and closed the shop in our province. Biggest popular reason is it costs too much here because of labor since they can setup in a third world country and pay people shit (4$ hour and less) for the same thing. That's what happened to me 3 times. I worked for an ISP and they closed their store and switch services in another country...in the Philippines lol. Outsourcing jobs seriously doesn't help. Subcontracting doesn't help. It all comes down to employers when you look at that field.

Since this is the most talked about alternative energy source for a car but are we ready for that ? I'm not sure but 1 thing I'm sure is that some countries or provinces like mine are not ready. Well I'm not too positive about the idea of all the population of Quebec using electric cars. I just think about the electricity cost and what we use right now and what we will need won't be small. I fear that.

the average price per Kw/h is around 6.8. The table is here.

The company has 2.8 million customers responsible for 4.01 million residential, commercial, institutional and industrial service contracts. - Hydro Quebec

Most of the money and profit Hydro-Quebec is making is towards exporting energy. Without those exports, Hydro-Quebec would increase the price to make a profit margin. They've told that countless times in press conferences.

Imagine if the same amount of customers using electric cars on the same grid ?

I don't have the exact number but in 2011 the monthly consumption of Hydro Quebec was around ) 3,06m. Can you imagine if you put around 2-3 million cars on that same grid ? This is just a thought but I think the price will increase without any hesitation and Hydro-Quebec will force it on us. Twice a year or so Hydro-Quebec is asking the goverment for a price increase as they tell us we don't pay enough. I can imagine they will have lots of arguements to increase the price and the goverment will have almost no choice but too accept.

ps: this is just Quebec, I can imagine worst numbers, facts or stories in other provinces or countries.

Theres another one which is relatively new in some way it's called the "oyster". it's using waves in the water to produce electricity. Lots of other methods work but the US and other big countries stick with conventional coal plant since they know it works, they know what to expect and it's cheap.

I should of told in my first post but my point is it's possible to hack any console open source or not. It really doesn't depend on what company makes console or create or use security measures because people will always find a way to bypass it, ignore it or go around it so they can do what they want with their console.

  19. hacks and other craps on Why We Should Remain Skeptical of the Ouya Android Console · · Score: 1

On the hack side: every console is hackable to a point that you can play "backup" games on any console. Hell, I soldered my old ps1 myself and took me around 20 minutes and it worked. lots of sites exist which you can order the equipment and they ship you a DIY kit.

Hardware opinion: you can put in the most powerful equipment in a console but it all comes down on how to code it since all i've been getting feedback on that side is that new consoles tends to be a problem on the coding side.

Biggest problems imho: controls in the game. No matter what console you use, if you play a game with bad control, the game will get refunded...or uninstalled. Open source console or not, this will be a problem so this is a dev problem, not console.

Glitch, bugs, and camera problems: all present in ALL consoles, open source or not, this will be a problem. Again this is a problem with devs, not console.

Conclusion: this is clear in my post that my problem relies on the developer side as they tend to release games with bad control, bad camera (layout or movement...both sometimes) and lots of bugs and glitches. But since this is a open source, maybe it will be less of a problem since the devs will have a chance to update their games if they have the oportunity to do so as I don't have all those details. This is compared to closed source games console like xbox or ps3 as when a game is released with bugs or bad control, they stay with bad controls and bugs.
