I have a Gen1 also. I was using Chrome (browser).
I was surprised it worked as well as it did. I almost felt like chromecast was buffering the video to make sure it streamed well. Normal stuff was in real-time when streaming browser to chromecast, but the video was delayed by a few seconds.
Not sure what Google did, but over a year ago I tried streaming Prime through the browser and casting that to my Chromecast. It didn't work too well back then.
However, I tried it again within the past few months and it works fantastic now.
It's not about what I'm searching. The internet isn't separated by the boundaries you see on the map. When you visit a webpage that's hosted in another country, you don't have to provide your passport, do you? So I could really give 2 shits about what the EU thinks about how Google should do their thing.
What this boils down to, is the entirety of the EU is too lazy to vote with their money. Want to hurt Google truly? Stop using their products in the EU. That will cost them way more than this silly fine.
Personally, I think Google should just shut down service to the EU and call it a day.
Nonsense? Hardly, you just haven't thoughtfully played out the scenario in your head.
Please elaborate on your new economy and how it allow an infinite number of people to acquire money without jobs. Remember that we don't limit the number of babies people can have... so assume the population continues to grow, while the number of jobs continues to shrink.
"honest" is not demoting sites just because they are competing with Google, as the EU has demonstrated they do.
Ohhhhhh... I get it. So in your world... if I offer a service that's better that yours, and you offer a competing service... I should be forced to advertise and offer your service as part of my service... so like McDonalds shouldn't force you to buy their food when you go to a McDonalds... they should provide you with Burger King's food as well. Simply because there are double the amount of McDonalds than Burger Kings in the world.
Or maybe Wal-mart should be forced to give up 25% of their floor space to anyone who wants to sell retail shit...
Do you understand how stupid this all sounds?
The judgement is stupid, the fine is stupid, the EU is stupid for doing it.
The law doesn't work that way. Google needs to fix their shop. It's that simple.
Fix what? Their shit works. That's why they're being fined. Get it yet?
Those who automate, will be perpetuating their own demise. Automate the jobs away... nobody will have a jobs... nobody has money... nobody can buy your goods/services... your automated whatever shuts down.
The really difficult question is how do you built up a society in such a way that everyone strives and works hard to obtain meaningful and gainful employment. It's a really, really hard problem to solve. Especially if you already have existing paths for people to do so, but they aren't doing it. Altering minimum wage is very easy and yet ineffective way of solving this problem. You can put more and more carrots in front of people to persuade them to go where you want them to go. But when do you stop adding carrots and instead figure out why they're not chasing the carrots?
You made an assumption there, which shows your true opinion.
You feel that people aren't striving and working hard. The old "work harder" FOOLosophy. Unfortunately, there will never be any information to support that claim. So why bother using it as a reason for doing or not doing something?
But play a game with me for a minute. Flip your scenario around... let's instead assume that the majority of people are working and striving hard, spending their money wisely, educating themselves. Everything you say they should be doing. Let's assume they are doing that, but still can't make enough to get by?
Because at some point, the economic impact doesn't matter, does it? Sometimes you have to take the financial hit, to ensure your own safety. Think about the money we spend to clean up after hurricanes & floods. Financially it doesn't make sense to help New Orleans, does it?. It's built in a bad spot. It's an increasingly bad situation. Yet we do.
So we openly spend money after the bad stuff happens... why not spend the money BEFORE the ultimate bad thing happens?
That's where we're at. It's time to spend all the money to ensure there's a human inhabitable earth.
But I'm sure conservatives would rather spend another trillion on a fighter jet nobody really wants. Cause that helps...
5 heart attacks? Wow. That's some scary shit. I have vasovagal/neurocardiogenic syncope. I've had symptoms that are similar to heart attack symptoms that were scary enough to put me in the ER. I couldn't imagine going through an actual one 5 times.
I bet after that it's hard to listen to people complain about "having a bad cold".
I mean, if it didn't write itself... then what good is it? Some developer has to write the code for the thing that writes the code.... right?
And since all of the programmers are now out of jobs... who's going to maintain those code snippets that this thing uses? Or are we saying that every code snippet that ever needed to be written, is done... ?
No. This is stupid. It's a fun idea... and they can run with it... but I'm not worried for at least another 2 decades of coding. I hope I'm out by then. Not because of age, but choice.
The reason we reach for things like higher minimum wages and guaranteed overtime pay is because we, as a society, want to make things better for the most people possible. This means that we set expectations about what we consider to be acceptable living conditions.
I'm sure you think we should abolish minimum wage and everyone should get paid "market value" for their jobs. This is great, in theory, until your job is the next one on the "market value". Why should I pay you $50k, when there's a guy with no house, 2 kids, no cars, and expects no benefits, and he'll do the job for $10k, just so he can feed his family?
I'm sure you'll say, "Well, then you should just train to find a better job that is in higher demand." That doesn't work, because the hordes of people will eventually come for that job as well.
It's a race to bottom at that point, and helps nobody.
Socialize? I guess we should get rid of roads, police, military then... because by your definition, anything that the public requests of their government, and then pays for... is "socialist".
We need to be stopping the relentless growth of big corporations and monopolies, not giving them more power & money to control politics.
If you're using Galera, I'd recommend you to read this - https://aphyr.com/posts/327-ca... . Depending on your application requirements, you may have unwanted behaviour from your cluster.

What's the problem/solution then?
What is "honest"? Different algorithms for search will provide different results. The way Bing searches could be different than google.
Did you also know that your search is personalized? So you and I can search for the same exact thing and get different results.
I like the way google search works, and I don't think they should change it at all.
If you don't like it, don't use Google. It's that simple.
Talk about proving the other side's point for them.
And... ?
You don't have any better excuses for why their overall quality of life is better?
Just that... your opinion is that they're "weak"?
So we in the United States have a big military... Understood. How is that getting me better internet service?

I think you're looking for numbers 12, 30, 46, and 50.
No, he can't. And that's the problem with people like that. Yes the earth will survive... just without humans. I'm kinda/sorta not okay with that.
Spot on my man. This is where, in my experience, most conservatives throw their hands in the air and respond with "Well it's not my problem."
I mean, if it didn't write itself... then what good is it? Some developer has to write the code for the thing that writes the code.... right? Hey! You're the guy from The Settlers commercial for DirecTV aren't you?

Is it still in BETA? If so, then I don't consider it ready for my production environment.
Oh...I understand his point.
He was trying to bring sanity to an endless discussion over a click bait article by expressing his opinion on how the different options stack up.
I humorously referenced the original article's intent, which states that we should all switch to PostGres because:
1. A few specific types of indexing.
2. Table Inheritance
3. JSONb
If that's all the author could come up with... then we are splitting hairs and speaking to the minority of the population.
I now feel dirty by having spent so much time discussing a horrible article that dice created solely to cause a stir.

And then read this, after that, as it is a response from Percona about the first article . https://www.percona.com/blog/2015/09/17/clarification-call-maybe-mariadb-galera-cluster/
MariaDB and MySQL are basically the same thing.
All RDBMS's are BASICALLY the same thing... but we're here to split hairs and talk about features that 5% of the population will find useful. :-)
