    And the probability of a collision and the files being the same size (the first thing to check when looking for dupes) is even smaller.

    And then you could pick a random section from both files and run an md5sum on that, squaring your probability of a collision. Probably. I'm just guessing.

    And did they find that because that's what they wanted to find, and they tweaked the model until it came out with an interesting story?

    Seem unlikely? To be fair, the researchers ran the term 'MySpace' through their model and found it traced that social network's rise and fall with some accuracy

    And how much tweaking happened there?

    I've heard that the carrots-for-the-eyes thing is mostly urban legend based on World War disinformation campaigns to mask actual night-vision research.

    Radar. But I think I heard that on the same QI episode where they discussed how they used men who'd had cataracts removed to spot UV morse code lamps.

    The galaxies M81 and M82 are only about 300K ly from each other. A decent telescope can image them both at the same time.

    Nope. In our frame of reference, it most definitely happened then. The light is reaching us now. It's too late to emit a beam of light of our own to meet the supernova light halfway, which it wouldn't be if it was happening now.

    The only reference frame at this point in space in which it is happening now is that of the light which is reaching us.

    Listen to the song (it plays using HTML5 audio if you pretend to be an iPhone, otherwise it requires Flash).

    Those sound like the words on someone who tried it on exactly two devices.

    It played without Flash for me in Firefox.

    They're supposed to fix these things - that's why they call themselves editors.
