I'm all for kit electronics, but e-mail / smartphone notifications are the way to go for computer notifications remotely.
Everyone is not you. There are plenty of reasons not to have your phone connected 24/7. For that matter, there are plenty of people who don't own smart enough phones.
if they observed these black holes at a few thousand light years apart, and then some time later (assuming less than a few thousand years later) at just a few light years apart...
That's a big "if." A casual reading of the summary might lead you to infer it, but it's more likely something they've extrapolated from the current observations.
'You have heard that it was said, "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth". But I say to you, do not resist an evildoer. If anyone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.'
It doesn't matter. They are abusing the domain name system to make the dot look like punctuation in the middle of a word.
That's a side effect. They're using the domain name system to make the full name look like a single word. Yes, it's a little bit hipsterish, but nothing to get in a flap about.
It's called marketing. You're not going to forget that URL in a hurry, are you?
If there are no laws restricting the charging of electric vehicles at an (arguably) public outlet, then it is allowed.
Operative word. The summary possibly gives the misleading impression that all and sundry were free to charge their ipods in this socket, but I suspect it's actually meant to be for the sole use of custodial staff and the like.
Considering how small Bluetooth adapters can be, this is a little on the chunky side.

For each LED, have instead a tiny window behind which you put some flap which is other side red, other side black.
I work exclusively in blue light, you insensitive clod!
Adding moving parts to what was previously an entirely solid-state device running on batteries. What could possibly go wrong?
High contrast e-paper, on the other hand...
I can ... whack on the keyboard for an hour
Not on the hospital's time, pal.
FoxNews.com has learned.
Oh, shit. How long before it becomes self-aware?
I can't think of why anyone who posts to slashdot would not be familiar with the Frankenstein monster.
Perhaps because out of the 7 billion people on this planet, 6,999,999,999 of them are not you.
I can't think of a reason to assume that anyone who posts to slashdot would necessarily be familiar with Frankenstein.
Only in this reference frame.
To quote todrules:
FTA, it was more of a generalization on 2 black holes collapsing. It wasn't talking about anything specific in this case.

Yes, it is.
(well, if you don't have to provide any evidence, nor do I).
Well, we had a good run. 99% of the computing needs of 99% of the people can be met by the existing chips electronics.
Hasn't that been true since the computer was invented?
'You have heard that it was said, "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth". But I say to you, do not resist an evildoer. If anyone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.'
Yeah, and it did not end well for him.
It isn't always because they are evil or "bad guys".
FTFY.

So what exactly is the "clues" that have been gained?
are
Sorry.
So what exactly is the "clues" that are been gained?
Despite being an actual murder, it wasn't clear whether or not she'd actually be sentenced to any punishments.
Because she wasn't likely to harm anyone else? Or because she may have been deemed not to be responsible for her actions?
Despite being an actual murder
Sounds like that might be open to interpretation too:
Murder is the unlawful killing, with malice aforethought, of another human
Laws were invented to prevent harm, not categories of behaviour.
Why is attempted murder a crime then?
It's strange to think how different things are today, where everyone just does this anytime they are out.
Do they? I wouldn't, and have never noticed anyone doing it.
Does that mean we've got the right to use the classrooms whenever we feel like it, too?
Need some supplies for your meth lab? Just take what you need from chemistry class, as long as you pay your taxes.
Shouldn't the public be able to make use of something they have paid for?
Didn't work when I wanted a go in an MRI machine*.
*NHS.
He's not charging. He's arresting
He reported. The arrest came days later.

This is a PUBLIC outlet
No it isn't. Just because something is funded out of taxes, doesn't mean you get to use it whenever you want and however you want.
When the summary says
the same outlet one could use to charge a laptop or cellphone.
it doesn't mean "could" in the sense of "is allowed to" but in the sense of "is plausibly able to"
Proof by (electrical) induction, you could say *imaginary pipe puff*
What makes you think it's there for the benefit of the public? It's more likely there for the sole use of custodial/maintenance staff.
