Why shouldn't any two people be able to enter into a contract and receive these kind of tax/pension/health/inheritance benefits? What about two elderly sisters who only have each other in the world? Why is marriage, now that everyone's coming around to the idea that it's not solely - or even mainly - about procreation, still limited to couples who can legally have sex with each other*?
*Counter examples welcome, so don't be a dick just because you can prove me wrong. That doesn't automatically make you better than me.
What is "it"? Being a fan of electric vehicles? One can be a fan by recognising their potential, while still recognising their (current) shortcomings. If we all took your attitude to emerging technology we'd still be living in caves and cleaning our teeth with chewed sticks.
It is as unpredictable as it is unknowable - that is, to a certain degree as defined by the HUP - because prediction requires knowledge. If your knowledge is imperfect, your prediction will be imperfect.
One problem that has not be determined is how do planets deal with the inherent variability with Red Dwarf stars.
What problem? The planets don't care one bit.
Does the long life, and greater number of Red Dwarfs significantly boost the drake equation? Does the variable energy output reduce the drake equation?
It's all rather academic, since plausible values for the DE cover such a wide range that you can reasonably make it come out with pretty much any answer you want. AIUI it was never really meant to put to practical use, and is more of a contemplative notion.
Under Firefox 21 I could drag and rotate quite smoothly, but the transitions from one model to the other were very slow. After the upgrade, it's all smooth.
So, reading that text file (text file? Also, did you count the number of exclamation marks?), this guy did a $1000 experiment which showed that the speed of light, one of the most widely studied and precisely quantities in physics for the last 200 years, is wrong? Right...
I'd go even further and say you could still make money from broadcast advertising, even if people were then free to record and distribute that broadcast. I download a lot, but I still watch TV. I'm currently hooked on The Returned, which I watch on TV with ads, but which I could easily download - but it's broadcast at a time when I'm always free, and I've come to appreciate waiting a week between episodes of an enjoyable show.
Now that I've angered the Windows-8 fanbase
I wouldn't worry about him.

It would make sense if it wasn't so stupid.

That's the joke.
unknowable but nor unpredictable.

I find phrases like this misleading.
John Q Public finds that sort of phrase quickly and easily understandable, which, I would say, are not attributes of your proposed replacement.
If the wave is on for a long time, you get a nice sine wave and the uncertainty in the frequency is low, but the uncertainty in the time is now high.
What do you mean by "the time"? Duration?
"shot" is an acceptable synonym for launch, so that's a fail.
I disagree.
It won't work. Captain Kirk will just ask it what love is and it'll blow itself up.
Today, a Russian Soyuz rocket shot the first 4 of 12 satellites
Well that's not a good start. Unless, of course, you meant "launched."
They will orbit at 8,062 km and will weigh only 650 kilogrammes
Science fail!
about 500 milliseconds to be exact
Well, which is it? About 500ms or exactly 500ms?
If this doesn't get people flocking back to IE, nothing will.
And, just to chase some "informative" points:

WebRTC is now enabled by default.
Useful!
support for the asm.js subset of JavaScript
Impressive!
word wrapping for text files displayed in the browser
Decidedly underwhelming.
My personal favorite right now is "ubuntu change bluetooth mac".
My current personal favourite is:
+"ubuntu change bluetooth mac"
which returns exactly one result. If nothing else, they're quick.
Can't they set up adblock plus in chrome or firefox?
I think GP means "they" referring to the schools.
yet you don't even get off the first page of results before the results have lost all relevancy.
That's not necessarily Google's fault.
Also, put a + in front of each of those words and you get 4 results.
It's my perception that their results have steadily trended downward in quality for the last few years.
Alternatively, there's just a lot more shit on the internet.

That is exactly what the GP said!
It does. Tunneling is instantaneous.
It may be instantaneous, but what, if anything, is actually "travelling"?

Or rather, a mechanism by which evolution may occur.
Why don't you consider lateral transfer to be evolution?
YouTube playlist... balanced and informative.
If that's not a sign of an impending and unstoppable apocalypse, I don't know what is.
They really don't go for guys who use "milquetoast" in conversation.
