Don't you understand? Giving tax breaks to the wealthy and ending all government regulation and letting big corps do whatever the fuck they want is the CURE ALL of the 21-st century. It will make the economy strong, give us all great jobs, improve education, and make your dick bigger! Just give the wealthy and big corps everything they want and we'll all live in a fucking paradise on earth!

Add in "And Obama sucks!" and I think that pretty much sums up Romney's answers to every question on this survey.

I know I'm going to get modded into oblivion for saying this. But I've gamed about every way imaginable. And the k/m, much beloved as it is by PC gamers, wasn't designed for games--and to me it shows. For one thing, movement with the keyboard lacks the nuance of an analog joystick. When I move in a console game, I control the speed of the movement. With a keyboard, it's either run or stop--on or off. And the mouse, while offering more speed and precision on a large display than a joystick, feels artificial to me (sorry to those of you who love the ultra-quick headshot). Of course, there is also the overarching issue that a k/m makes a really shitty controller if you're playing anywhere else but on a desktop. This is one of the many reasons I drifted away from PC gaming a few years back and into consoles (along with the money I saved not having to constantly chase the upgrade dragon).

Now, flame away. I've already put my asbestos undies on.

At the survey level, individual professors and instructors don't always pick the books/codes themselves. Most 100- and 200-level classes have set textbooks and requirements for certain courses. An individual professor can only choose supplementary materials for these courses (at least at my university).

All our math courses at my university require this now. While the software is good, I do feel sorry for the students--in that it makes it very difficult to buy a used book. At the bookstore all the codes and books are packaged together. To buy them separately, you have to go somewhere like Amazon.

It's not indecision, it's the terminal disease that modern NASA is infected with. Everything is done for PR and to justify funding, and so instead of looking to accomplish substantive missions, everyone is just going around trying to not get fired. Missions are all based on how much PR they'll generate and how safely and easily they can be done, rather than the substance of what they'll actually accomplish. No one wants to make any decision with any real risk.

In short, no one wants to be the one to make the call on the bolt because they're all covering their own asses and trying to pass the decision to someone else.

Putting aside the question of whether a company can patent stuff like a rectangle with rounded edges and other obvious design features, all these patent lawsuits of recent years have made me wonder how it's possible these days for any software or hardware startup to even get going. It seems almost a given that any company that comes up with any new idea or piece of software these days, and subsequently makes even a modicum of money off of it, is pretty much guaranteed to get hit by a slew of patent lawsuits, some perhaps from big-name companies with deep pockets and lots of lawyers.

As someone who has thought about going into indie software development myself, this scares the hell out of me. I can't imagine investing a ton of time and money into some innovative new product, only to be drowned into bankruptcy by patent trolls and the software big guns who have quietly patented every obvious element of design and every trivial element of every bit of software and hardware (even those with with decades of clear prior art). I'm not sure I would even consider trying anymore without the investment of a big patent law firm just to protect me.
