We have about 20 Motion tablets here at the office for our sales reps. They cart them around to do store calls (check inventory, product placement, etc).
Main problems:
- Battery life is good from laptop standards (2-3 hours), though we haven't seen the life that the parent post gets. The reps carry around a spare battery and it's a bit of a pain to swap out.
- In order to carry them around and keep them protected we had custom cases made, motion just didn't have anything to offer.
- The stand that ships with the tablet is AWFUL. They shouldn't even bother with it. It's a thin, cheap piece of plastic that folds down the middle to create a stand for the tablet to sit in to use like a laptop/desktop.
- We couldn't get the things to boot off of USB or Firewire cdrom drives. In order to ghost the machines we resorted to pulling the hard drives out of the tablets.
All in all though, these are good tablets and the sales reps love them (they used to have laptops to do work on and handheld jornadas for the store calls).
For example, if i open a private FTP site and i prove that only my friends have access to it, then it falls neatly under 'fair use' clause
No it doesn't, this is unauthorized distribution of copyrighted materials and is not covered by fair use. your other examples seem to stand well though.
I'm glad this crap isn't taking place in the Netherlands. For now downloading is legal here, uploading isn't..... you mean just like it is in Canada? RTFA:-)
I am confused. Am I getting fined in advance, so that I can download or does the industry want it all ways?
Guess what! The "Music Industry" isn't a single entity, there's plenty of different players each with their own viewpoint, everyone from the Artists to the Labels to the Publishers to the Retailers have their own views and opinions.
So you can record yourself saying "call mom" and tell the phone to call 555.555.5555 whenever it hears you say that.
Here in Toronto I was with Bell for my cellphone a few years ago and subscribed to their voice dialing feature which was precisely this. It worked fantastic *except* that the system would repeat the number back to you (rather slowly) to confirm the number.... which wasn't a big deal, except it ALWAYS got the number right unless I was deliberately trying to screw it up.
It was a great feature and I'm sorry to see that no cellphones have this... even if you did have to train it on each number or something first.
It's possible... the disk looked fine, but it may have been defective.
I took it back to EB but went for a different game instead of just getting it replaced.... it's the only time I've ever had that kind of trouble and it just sort of turned me off.
Anyone know what the difference is between these two systems? Or are they one in the same? Here in Toronto, a few stations have been having ads about DAB being the future of radio... although I was shopping for receivers at christmas time and the only DAB compatible ones I saw were $600CDN+, too expensive for my tastes.
The iPod mini is smaller. A LOT smaller. And thinner.
Doesn't seem much smaller going by the specs posted on Apple's site. It's only.5" shorter,.5" thinner, and 0.1"............ thinner? Anyways, you know what I mean:-) I wouldn't call this a LOT smaller.
Sonic the Hedgehog for Gamecube (the first one), was awful. I got a blue screen of death at least twice on it (Well, not a Windows BSOD, but a blue screen and the machine locked up)... I blame the game though, there were some other weird quirks while playing it too. I can't remember much more as I've banished the game from my memory. (and I think this was 2 years ago).
Not sure how common knowledge this is, but one neat trivia piece about "A Bugs Life" DVD is that the widescreen and 4:3 versions of the movies are actually rerenders. Not pan and scan.
Screenshots showing the difference available here (Scoll almost to the bottom)
I'm being charged an extra $10 for switching services.
You're not being charged an extra $10 for "switching services". If you just cancelled cable tv and said "I don't watch tv anymore", you'd still be charged an extra $10. It really isn't all that unusual for companies to give discounts if you purchase multiple products/services from them.
I know an office that uses this software... it's not bad, it stays quite hidden in the OS (Windows only of course). Login with your ID and you get a list of all your laptops and the last IP they were detected as being logged in from.
Most people go for brand names without even thinking about it, as they automatically assume they are "better".
Ummm... that's probably cause they usually are better. The few times I have tried a no-name brand product, I'm usually quite dissappointed and decide it's worth the extra 50 cents to get the name brand i like. Kraft Dinner, Frozen Pizza, Cheese, Butter, Margarine and toilet paper are just a few of the no name products i've tried that just sucked -- so i don't trust the "no-name" brand anymore... I assume that's how most other people come to that conclusion.
It is neat, but this is what happens when you let "people" fool with the system:
Uncommon Knowledge about a grapefruit Does it come in different colors? I say Yes. Would you use it daily? I say Probably. Is it a predator? I say Probably. Is it originally from Europe? I say Probably. Does it have paws? I say Yes. Is it made from cellulose? I say Probably. Is it delivered? I say Yes. Can it growl? I say Yes. Would you touch it with a 10-foot pole? I say Doubtful. Was it ever alive? I say No. Does it come in many varieties? I say Yes. Is it outside? I say Doubtful. Is it something you bring along? I say Probably. Could you send it in the mail? I say Yes. Is it yellow? I say Yes. Is it a renewable resource? I say No..... It's right... I never knew that grapefruit had paws!!!
It also reports how many times you've played each track to headquarters.
I can live without that. What do they want to know next?
Get this!!! I hear that websites actually track what pages you visit!!! I'm not kidding!!! And credit card companies track your purchases and even have the balls to mail you a statement each month showing what you bought and where you bought it!!! Those bastards!!!
I mean... <southpark>"come on"</southpark> How else are these guys going going to be able to tell what songs are popular, show what other people who share your tastes are listening to, etc. etc.
I think I've tried just about every trick in the book.... one of these days I think I'll drop it off at the store and see if I can get another using Applecare.
I'm getting about ~2.5 as well on my 867 AlBook on 10.2.8, bluetooth disabled, cpu reduced, and display on a medium to low brightness. I usually have airport enabled. I'm very dissapointed with the battery life.
110 comments and no .torrent file?!?!?!?!?!

And I like to play games offline sometimes. Anyways, it was intended as 95% joke :-)
Hmm... But what if you have to pay $9.95 a month (on top of your ISP charges) for said encyclopedia?
Wonderful point. It's very clear that nobody is going to want to pay for any service over the internet.
Yeah, it doesn't work :-) But thanks :-)

... Maybe it's just where you live.... here in Toronto, gas is ~.75 per litre and a litre of bottled water will run $1 to $2.

This site also has some pretty good examples of the different aspect ratios, etc.

There is no 'I'-word in COMPUTER GRAPHICS or COMPUTER GRAPHICS ANIMATION!
No..... but there is in COMPUTER GENERATED IMAGERY
Why can't one acronym have more than one meaning?

Being a Canadian, I have no choice but to use piracy. ... Ummm... A) It's just music dude. You're not going to die without it.
