I got Zone-66, loved that when I was younger and couldn't believe it ran on my peice of crap system. Of coruse, it was a great system when I got it.
I really envy some of you, a lot. A lot of the time, too. All of you, pardon the term, older geeks had it pretty good.
I love the limited enviroment, elequent coding of days long gone. Problem is, I was never a coder in those days. I was in elementry school coloring pictures. I had an interest in computers, but I didn't have much expirience in them. I couldn't afford them until they got to where there wasn't much of a challenge.
Maybe, that's why PDA programming appeals to me. But, I have to wonder: Where do us younger coders fit in with the code-it-small crowd that is still going on? In the days of Java and other languages that do everything, running on systems that could practically calculate the Big Bang.
Where does one start to enjoy those times when one was never able to expirience them for one's self?
Once again, I have to stress other PDAs' importance. And, once again, I have to mention that new Sharp PDA. Got a CompactFlash drive built in. And, what have we recently seen in Flash? A 1-Gigabyte card. That enough for a decent PDA/3-D game?
Then again, why does it have to be on iPaq? Sure, that's what these people are doing it on. But the best advances are in their inspiration, not their solitary achievements.
Just take a look at the new Sharp SL-5000D specs and you can see that there are far better handhelds out there.
If only this were true, but we know that it is not. Just take a look at what we have on systems like the GameBoy. Sure, there are some good titles on it. But it's mostly crap.
As soon as you get even an inkling of a project idea for yourself, expand it into an impossible goal and don't rest until you have reached it. That's what I spend all of my time doing... Coming up with ideas, that is. Not reaching them... but, it keeps the flames alive.
it just has to be like this, doesn't it? I'm finally able to build a new computer and new processors keep coming out even better. As soon as I have enough money for the Athlon 1.4Ghz, the XP line comes out and now it gets even better!
Ugh...
Just have the cells on the inside of the cover, so that they are protected when its closed and that's a good thing, of course. When the cover flips out, a sensor controls the tilt and rotate motors on the cover to face it as directly to light as possible.
sucks. We need something new, something unique and completely inovative. The only problem is that we need to fit both the GUI and instructions for the GUI at the same time. Little arrows indicating this opens a new menu, or a slide bar showing those changes a value and is at this value now, etc. Everything needs to change.
Just the opposite, I think clothes are the next thing we need computerized. I've even been designing a prototype shoe-encased battery to use to power clothing!
It wouldnt be difficult to just backup only those parts of memory which have changed. Give each block in memory a change flag, when there isnt extensive use on the memory then the system takes its free time to backup changed portions and when the power goes out it can backup everything and shutdown.
If we are talking about having enough RAM for a RAM-Drive like this, why would we need Swap anymore? RAM is obviously affordable enough to avoid its use. Hell, even 128 megs of DDR is down below 50 now.
So who will polititions, communities, and the like blame for this? I would see it as the schools fault. Yes, I know it was wrong of him to hack the computer system, but he was only exercising his mind. The school should have been a little more soft on him. My prediction is that many of the people (non-geeks) who hear of this will think something along the lines of "See what those evil hackers did to him?"
Low level coding IS best.. for the final binary. Yes, it is a little tougher. Yes, it is more work for the programmers. Yes, it does take more time and more thinking on our part. But, does this matter? No. Our goal should be to produce the best binaries we can. The fastest and smallest binaries we can! Sacrafice your own time and brain power for a good binary, thats what matters. Take the hard road and reach the better paradise.
why not add some support for adding lyrics? MusicMatch can store lyrics within the mp3's, why is is so rarely used i dont know! But there should be a tool to download lyrics for all your mp3s and add them to the files. and then a lyrics plugin for winamp, xmms, etc.
ive already got my hand in that next step. i love watching all these videos on here, got 5 so far. Hey, they take a while to get! 3 days per video when yuo take cut-offs into account.
Ok, dont laugh people.. Im stuck on an Me system. It doesnt seem like they have IE integrated like that anymore. It's still used alot for many things, but its not so entangled. IE can crash and explorer is still fine.

I'm pretty sure this has been done. Though I am failing to find the link to the product/hack. Anyone?

Not all geeks are like you, my friend. It is possible to program ^H^H^H have a real life, and be a geek!

Oh, no no that's not cheating. It's called using a magic spell!
I've seen cards that do this for sale in at a local computer shop these old people run.

They arent the first to do this, doesn't Japan have 10/100 Ethernet for 40 amerikan dollars? Or at least they will soon, I heard.

a little work and money and what you described is really just a computer with alot of multimedia thought put into it.

You know what is fun? When you get that whole "Wireless electricity transfer" thing figured out. I love it!

its been released for free now.
isnt that hardware??
