Without the united states most of the world would be ruled by tin pot dictators not nations of men and women voting for their own leaders. The people of this nation donate more money to the poor all over the world then the next seven nations combined. Infact this nation would not even exist without nations from all over the world screwing their own people to the point that they have to put themselfs with the little money that they had on a boat for a few months and make a new life for themselfs in a strange new nation. Sometimes leaving their children or other family members behind forever.
Oh and btw I don't have any problems with amercian bashing however nextime a dictator takes over europe or a communist nation lays siege to your city and you need us to air drop food to an entire city for 6 months don't come calling on us to rescue your people again.
Man I bet I could get the russians to let me ride in one of their MIG fighters for some cash if they are willing to let these bozos launch tin foil kites into outerspace!

If you have not noticed the news on the sales of new computers being very low as of late then it might suprise you that OEMs will do anything to cut costs and unless there is a huge public outcry they will not bother with it. Some might just do it to make it seem like they are adding features that others do not. Sorta like the gimmick.99 cents added to the end of any price on sale items.
After 6 months with my 80gig HD a whole Terabyte seems like more then enough room however I do remember when 50mb seemed like an insane amount of space. I recall my friends being amazed about how they can fit 50 disks in their comp let alone the reems of cds that can now be placed inside our new PCs.
As more space becomes the standard software appears almost as quickly to fill that space and we are faced with the same old problem all over again.
Yes infact I have donated money to the EFF as well as the ACLU and the Libertarian Party.
Sadly most that talk about supporting free speech like to cheer for it but choose not to support it by voting with their dollars.

I know donating some cash to the EFF would do some good. This seems like a perfect case to push for a trial. The MPAA needs to lose some to let it know it cannot push around some of our scientists without getting stung!

It seems like someone seemed to forget that if your too dam lazy to walk a few blocks or drive 15 min to a place (school, community center, ect)
to vote then you do not deserve the right of voting. All it takes is a few min to wait on the line and mailing in a dam simple form a few weeks or months before you vote and your done.
I have been recording everything from nice audio clips and old funny wav files to mp3 format and I have never used windows media player. Who the hell uses that? I also hate using media player cause it even causes my new p3 1000 to pause everytime I load it.
There have been dozens of 3rd party encoders that have been around from the start. This will not slowdown mp3 creation. However other software venders like macromedia (now uses mp3 encodeing) will not be happy about this.
What exactly is open source software threating?
Not much at all. We have heard about the idea of many working on one project with the goal of creating better software yet after a few years of hearing this nothing has happened. The only thing to show for it are corporate enties like redhat and andover loseing money and market share. Face it. Its pretty much dead. The only "ebiz" useing open source software and making a profit are porn sites.
I run a network of 6 sites and my stats show linux users ranking below windows 3.X surfers.
That is quite sad considering all of the hype we heard the past 3 years.
Wireless platforms would be the only hope for an open source revolution yet wireless will not peak here in the united states like it has in europe.Do not get me wrong wireless will be important in the next few years but anyone thinking that a 5x3 inch screen will crush the pc market is just looking too hard for the next "microsoft".
