"Unless you've managed to not watch anything in the past three weeks"
(This is by NO means an attack on the movies...I'm just sharing my personal experience)
I haven't had "TV" for 6 years. While I've seen advertisements for this movie online, I didn't know it was anything different than the one with Heath Ledger...becasue "Dark Knight" was used in both. I haven't seen that one and don't plan to see this one. I'm sort of shocked that I'm just now realizing that they wouldn't be advertising the one with Heath Ledger in it. I guess I just care so little about the titles that I'm only now realizing that fact.
It's actually quite amazing how the human mind works when you don't submit it to advertisements all the time. During family gatherings (Thanksgiving for example) it becomes very obvious to me the power of these advertisements, especially on TV. When everyone is watching the football game, I could care less (I'm not a sports fan) so I don't watch the TV. When a commercial comes on however, my eyes are GLUED to the TV and everyone begins talking amongst each other and ignoring it because they've seen all of them a hunder times or more.
What about the black people that are offended by "African- American"? I have a friend who is black as midnight and hates that term because he's from Panama. He also hates the term "Panamanian-American". He also hates other blacks using "African-American". He's American and serving in our country's military and that's what he wants to be known as...American.
...in fact, I had a fanny pack (those were in at the time) and they scooped all our stuff into this fanny pack with the intention of taking it...then left it on the table when they walked out. I'm guessing they were too embarrassed to come back for it.
Oh no, we were cited. We had a court appearance for some type of minor paraphernalia possession which is on my record to this day. I don't remember if I had to pay a fine or do community service (maybe both).
In my college days (read: drug experimentation days), we were at my friend's apartment waiting for two more friends to arrive for our "after hours" party (2:01 am, after the bars close). While packing a bowl, we had our back to the door and there was a knock. We knew our friends were coming and we assumed it was them. "COME ON IN" we said. In walked two police officers (called to our location for a noise complaint). They confiscated our drugs/paraphernalia and cited us for something (I forget the details...20 years later).
I don't see using the cell phone as any different.
Funny ending....when the officers left, they forgot to take the drugs/paraphernalia so we ended up getting high anyway (but WOW, what a buzz kill):(
So the advice only applies to 7-8 year old? That seems rather pointlessly specific.
You are on slashdot. The people he are so geek intelligent that they're plagued with social challenges (dare I say stupid), not the least of which is interpreting between the lines.

The $45 Windows Laptop
·
· Score: 1
Laptop and notebook have been synonymous for a long time and therefore when I see laptop I interchange it with notebook. A netbook, like you state, is small but it's also limited in what it can do compared to laptops/notebooks and therefore the price will be smaller compared to a laptop/notebook.
I was surprised to see only one wants 'porn'. I guessed 20 before I scrolled down and I passed it because I was looking for multiple entries and not the actual letters.
Considering that many users still put "www.apple.com" in the Google search box rather than the address bar, then choose Apple from the list of results....
A side note. I'm an IE9 user and I have Google as my default search provider. In IE9, the address bar is the search bar too and when I enter "www.apple.com" or any other address, I most often end up searching instead of going directly to that site (mainly because I'm not entering the http://./ I'm not sure if that's a bad IE9 design or if it's Googles creative ways of displaying my results as I type (and sort-of forcing a search). I'm sure it helps their search results though and it's just one more reason that search results are leading people to actual websites rather than direct address entry. I'm curious if other IE9 users experience this.
You can't find your bed if it's not made!?!
(Sorry, couldn't resist):-P
I agree, I keep a clean house and fairly well organized but making the bed is literally a flip of the wrist for me. Just get the blanket to cover the pillow and look somewhat rectangular, rather than crumpled.
As long as you are diligent about it like that then I believe you truly can beat them up with it. I tend to be a little weak with plastic but we did claim victory with a point system once. About 2 years ago Chase had a small limit CC and it offered 5x points when purchasing fuel, food or perscriptions. Between the three categories, my wife and I had the exact credit limit amount already in our cash budget so it was a no brainer to switch to this card and pay it off each month. We averaged between 35 and 40 dollars a month back on that card and enjoyed that ride for nearly 2 years until they changed the points system.
Good luck!
I hope someone creates a laptop shapped like an apple, patents it, installs Windows on it and sells millions of them.
*snap* (back to reality)
I'd never buy one!:P
Well, belief or not (I make it a policy to believe 0% of everything I read on forums) you appear to have an effective way to communicate. What you've written makes for both interesting fiction and fascinating non-fiction. Perhaps some creative exploration is in order? I for one would like to see someone's name associated to these truths you claim and a trustworthy publisher to print it. And if it's indeed fiction, heck, you almost had me throwing my 0% policy out the window.
Actually, I tend to agree. I just threw that out there because it was the first thing that popped into my head and made me chuckle. I could see distributing e-reader devices but that really only sounds and looks good on, well, paper (pun unintended) as they're less of a distraction than a full computer but I can't see students taking care of them any better than they take care of text books...which, of course, is very poorly.

Good information. I like the part where McDonalds customers started spending dramatically more when they started accepting CC's. People weren't getting hungrier, they were using plastic instead of cash....OH, and you aren't getting ahead when you try to take advantage of companies with "same as cash" deals either (this one is easily researched...understand that when you come in WITH CASH, you get discounts right up front because you can now barter a better deal).
You are overpaying by 12-18% when you use plastic (more if you use RFID). You are correct in that you are not getting taken on the monthly interest but statistically you may be overspending.
Imagine how foolish I'd sound by proclaiming that Mercedes should never be purchased by anyone if I myself can't afford one. My argument would be, as you say, falling flat. Anyone who states what American companies should or shouldn't be doing and they themselves don't own one or aren't intimately involved in one is equally as foolish.
You're right, as long as you are "sitting" and not starting your own business in which society "lets you reach your current heights" (in essence I think you're saying, "lofts you to your unearned heights", which is asinine) then no, you can't help them. Perhaps in your utopian world someone else does all the work and follows your decisions while you do nothing? (Wow, that sounds just like your perception of CEOs....strange).

epic hack that lasts a decade? You'd be dead long before then from the dry heaving.
dadump....tssss
I thank you!
I've not used it but my best friend swears by it. He showed me how it works and it seemed simple enough.

I never would have read this if it said, "$45 dollar Windows Netbook".

If no one can remember what a companies TLD is
...and now it will be even more complicated to teach end users what a phish email looks like.

Sounds like what Aaron Barr was trying to do to reveal the identities of anonymous.
Back in my day, we didn't have no fancy schmancy com-poo-tours with interwebs. We had a hammer! And a CHISEL! AND WE LIKED IT!!

I'd be willing to bet you don't own your own business.

Well stated! (There, I'm not an "anonymous coward" anymore) ;-)
