Razormind, Ethereum, Eris Industries et al have been working on decentralized systems for nearly two years now. Eris released their DApp server for exactly this usecase and are working in the States to spread word of the tech. Ethereum recently pulled into release mode, and their decentralized system for smart contracts is slowly gaining momentum. Razormind has been working on a Decentralized Operating System which is driven by blockchains. The banks have only recently moved into the space properly - there was a $30m investment in Chain by Citi et al a few days ago - but folks like UBS and Barclays have been setting up blockchain labs and accelerators in London to investigate the possibilities.

Or is very soon about to, he has access to one of the top lawyers in the country (who also happens to date George Clooney) and wouldn't make this announcement if it could be easily repudiated. I guess this is his way of testing the waters, and calling the banners before he sets out...
With Lambda expressions in the last release, and the renewed focus on mobile - Java is awesome. For a language which forced Microsoft to up it's game with C#, and with Linux has stormed into taking over most of financial services - it's as least as alive as COBOL. Which - like Sarah Palin - cannot be killed and will not go away. Java has the Colbert of Languages. Wildly successful, despite being in a suit.
Without a doubt the most troubling aspect of the market is the fraud, scamming, lying and cheating that goes on from amateur dev teams that take a half-understood slice of code, rebrand it, and then pump it up in EXACTLY the same boilerroom scams that have plagued traditional fiat markets.
The fact we need people to share their skills safely, train users, and businesses how to use crypto-currencies properly, and also ensure that those who create 'new' altcoins - are held accountable for the currencies they create, and to the people who bought into them.
It's not enough to print monopoly money - we have to build businesses first so it's worth trading for a REAL good or service.

I'm sure there are plenty on the site who remain doing this. Still - it's a good move, and I hope they get better at filtering out the marketers.

Spock wouldn't have screwed up as much as Kirk. But it would have been a much less interesting show. Maybe there is a place for Atheism with a heart?
