Come on, 132kW 2.5 litre diesels have been available for years (VW/Audi) :) but anyway nice developments, now only dump those stupid suv's and start driving normal vehicles.

Problem with MP3 in my opinion is that still the players have lousy battery life. There are MD players out there that have a battery life that spans around 100 hours on one AA battery and the rechargeable battery included with the player. And for in home use it's vastly superiour to MP3. Even at 384kbps I was able to distinguish MD from MP3 in a blind listening test. I couldn't however tell the difference between MD and the original CD.

Absolutely true, I don't use the full potential of my firewire adapter, I use it only for my camcorder which pumps through 3,6 mbytes per second on average. No dropped frames, very low CPU load, try that with USB....

what a laugh.... have you ever seen or driven a modern european diesel car? you won't even notive it's a diesel besides the slightly higher engine noise. for the rest it drives better then petrol. much more torque at a lower rev count. for example, VW has a 1.9liter (in prehistoric measures it's 116ci) which produces 150bhp and has a torque of 310Nm (228 lb-ft) available at 1900 rpm.... do I need to say more.... and what I sayd earlier modern petrol engines which use direct injection like mitsubishi's GDI and VW's FSI engine produce about the same amount of particles as a diesel engine, but they are much smaller so the penetrate the lungs deeper....

  14. Re:why are these so popular? on Hydrogen Powered Cars · · Score: 1

I don't think that I can totally agree with you on the fact that an internal combustion engine only is 25% efficient. That 25% figure is probably true for petrol engines, but we allso can choose to drive a much more efficient diesel powered car. The modern diesel engines such as developed by VW are among the cleanest cars around. In a typical small hatchback you get a fuel economy which is around 4,5 liters per 100 km. And the CO2 emission is allso much, much lower then that of a petrol engine and recent research in Sweden has concluded that the modern direct injected petrol engines, like Mitsubishi's GDI engine are more dangerous to the health then diesel engines. We certainly need an alternative for IC engines, but for now I believe that the diesel engine is the better choice. And the cars are now even faster then their petrol driven couterparts. VW has a 1,9 liter 4 cylinder diesel which pumps out 150 bhp and 310 Nm of torque and that magnificent torque comes out of it at only 1900 rpm. /remco

BUT because screens (and let's not forget tyre sizes) have allmost allways been in inches, allso here in europe I think that we should keep those things in inches, but for the rest, distances and so on, the metric system is much better... That shit with inches, feet and miles sucks... There is no logic in this. An inch is 2,54cm, a feet is about 30cm and a mile is 1,6km (nautical miles are 1,8km) The metric system is much easier to understand in this and especially in weight and volume measurements because the Americans and British use different pounds, ounces and gallons...
