    Man,

Lighten up and stop faulting people for having different interests.

At least these people have a hobby they care about and can share. I bet these people are quite passionate about their form of racing. As serious as it needs to be for safety, it is also very much about having fun and the bringing together of two great passtimes...drinking with your buds and pushing limits! It probably started as a joke and look what it has become!

I wish I had the time and know-how to do something like this!

    Dear world,

This whole idea that some or most people don't remember to or bother completing the rebate process just doesn't sit well with me. I would venture to say that most people chose to buy the item because of the post-rebate price and remember to send in the form so that they ultimately receive that very price.

Although I don't like how long they take, I have never not submitted the rebate. Each year, I have to send in for my $5.00 TaxCut Deluxe rebate. $4.63 is a pretty good return on a 37-cent investment. The state edition rebate nets me $19.58 and the e-filing rebate $14.58. Money is money!

Western Digital has been offering $30 rebates on their hard disks nonstop for years. Allowing the store to discount the item at the time of the purchase would remove the rebate processing cost and hassle.

It would be a MAJOR draw for store and manufacturers to offer instant rebates. They would just have to handle the reimbursement on the backend. I would love to see this.

Yes, boring television is indeed boring. So watching it on any screen would still be boring.

Regardless of whether or not the high-speed access is included, the price was a carefully calculated figure based on many different factors. Desired profit for hotel, share due to ISP, and average bandwidth usage per room are just some of these.

The cost formula would no longer fit if the average bandwidth usage jump considerably, because hotel guests had started watching television streams via the net. The hotels would have to adjust the price or start restricting what can be done via the in-room connection.

Your hotel wouldn't allow this for very long unless you were paying for the extra bandwidth you are sucking. So, don't expect for this to happen and last. Besides, why would you want to watch a show on such a small screen? TV's are always 19-inch or larger at the hotels I use.

IMHO, restricting what I time-shift is a bad idea. My schedule does always fit that of television, so I tend to miss programs that would like to watch. After all, this is why I want the PVR in first place, not commercial-skip. My VCR skips commercials automatically now.

Implementing PVR-like functionality at the server is perhaps worst, because Time Warner already has problems with handling the VOD load in my area(Charlotte, NC). We actually switched back to renting movies, because the iControl fails so much. Movies are often not available and pixelating is a common problem as well.

Around here, there are area phone books independent of the bigger Bellsouth edition, and we do get all of them. A couple of weeks ago, each house in my neighborhood was left two, not one, two of one of these area books. It must have been 300 pages. Why would any house need two? I drive a lot for work and listen to the radio or CDs a lot as a result. Even though radio sucks because of how short their play lists are, paying $10 bucks for satelite radio is still not worth it as long as I can surf stations. The hassle of hearing "Hero" from the Spiderman soundtrack yet again is less of a problem than satelite radio is a good deal. And I actually like it and the bands Saliva and Nickelback.

I'd like to hear more local and regional bands. In my market, those radio stations that actually have locals-only segments broadcast it when I am not as well as very few other people are listening. I would also like to hear more variety from the bands they do feature. If I like a song, I tend to buy the band's CD. I'd like to hear more of what's on the CD.

I've probably posted this before. Microsoft is a cash cow, and this allows them to burn hundreds of millions of dollars while attempting move to the top spot of yet another market. Although, IMHO, this is wrong, it should be legal. This is and should be a free market.

Collectively, Microsoft's commercial competitors probably have the same capability. If the industry really wants to have a fair chance against Microsoft in a free market, then they need to move to a new game plan. They need to band together against the bully and fight outside the court room.

The big kids like SUN, IBM, NOVELL, HP, etc need to contribute to a cash fund so that the little cash-strapped guys can also weather the storm. The group will have to forego profit and perhaps individual gain until Microsoft submits.

Will this ever happen? No, each company is too damn greedy to work together. Each company really wants the market for itself. Each company would rather have the governments of the world shut down Microsoft and hand over everything to it.

Consumers, both big and small, don't have to buy anything. In the US we still have the option to say no thanks!
