The fact that his employer is the enemy of the constitution should bear no moral weight.
Moral weight? But we're talking about the law here, not ethics.
What he did may have been right, or it may have been wrong. It may also have been legal, or it may have been illegal. The two things don't have anything to do with each other, beyond the idea that laws *generally* ought to have *some* ethical justification.
That's why I tried to say that morality doesn't even need to come into this. Yes he swore an oath to obey orders, after he swore to protect the constitution.
Yes, thank you for spelling out my point for laymen.
The informants, Manning, information up to this point has been correct. So why assume the rest isn't? If said 'classified' information is truly unconstitutional, you know it, and you go along with the flow then I say yes you are responsible. To what degree? Probably very little, group think is a powerful phenomenon.
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. This man did something.
It makes sense back in 1700s that we would want someone to speak on our behalf. It took weeks for news to arrive by mail to some parts. Now we have the telegraph. The phone. Radio. TV. Internet.
Why is our only voice in our government to give that voice away to people we don't trust let alone even like? Or sometimes to those we don't even know...
Seriously, there is no place on Earth as deadly as the surface of the Moon or Mars.
I would guess the deep abyss of certain places in the ocean are more deadly. You have vast amounts of pressure, I'm no rocket surgeon or brain scientist, but I think that's a lot harder to deal with then the vacuum of space. Actually if you were exposed to those pressures you would be crushed and dead instantly, where you could survive at least 20-30 seconds in space and live. Plus there are giant squid.
That's an awfully cavalier attitude to have when your own life isn't on the line.
If it does breach national security, as they claim it does, then it is exactly my life that is being put on the line being a member of this nation is it not?
I think it apt to use the overused quote: They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.
This is MY goverment. I am NOT the goverments CIVILIAN.
Why didn't they get out? C'mon, people are responsible for their actions. If they're there, they must be guilty in some way. If a van stopped for the reporter, surely he was involved with the insurgents in some way.
So the US military doesn't know where the insurgents are, with dozens of eyes in the sky as well as people scouring all over the ground, satellite imaging, probably even using some humvee mounted triangulation to help pinpoint where the fire is coming from.... but the civilians are supposed to know what neighborhoods to stay out of?
And I don't know why the US doesn't just nuke the whole area and get this over with...
Not a fair analogy? It wasn't an analogy, it was what happened. Just because you are in the area doesn't mean you have anything to do with what's going on. No matter what you think of any of the players in the current plot, this is fact: The military covered up these killings and labeled them all as enemy combatant kills.
And what if You were driving your daughters somewhere through your hometown and came upon what to you looked like an explosion with dying people crawling to safety?
To Americans it's the 'warzone' but to people that live there it is 'home'.
More people die each year from car accidents in the US then every terrorist act combined yet were not spending hundreds of billions of dollars coming up with scientific ways to prevent that, and it could be done easily. Instead we spend hundreds of billions of dollars coming up with scientific ways to better kill. People are already dying - release the documents.
Either way you look at 9/11 it was a conspiracy. The terrorists conspired, or the US government conspired. Fact is: it was a conspiracy. Ergo: Conspiracies happen.
No, we're not members of an elite inner circle, we are just people. Who must use our knowledge to save everyone else;)
What does esp have to do with conspiracy? Early 1933 Jewish conspiracy theorists were right. Bernie Madoffs scheme made wall street conspiracy theorists right. In fact conspiracies are uncovered all the time throughout history - Et tu, Brute? So much in fact that most cultures have specific laws to deal with them, ironically labeled 'Conspiracy'.
Just because you prefer to live in your fairytale world where nothing ever goes wrong and are spoon fed sugary truthiness does not make it reality for those of us living in the real world.
pple called us today and said that we aren't allowed to give away Apple products from a website associated with the app. They said we can give away a Zune HD, but not an iPod Touch.:-|
That's bull. Fight it. It's your property you can give it away however you want to.
According to Wikipedia, there is no international dial code for the antartic
That's because Antarctica has no nations to be international with. There are however plenty of research stations there with people who like to talk to mom n dad on the holidays.
'if Congress felt taking away from the public domain was in its best interests'
It's best interests?! IT?! IT IS AN IT! And people created IT. And it's about time people destroyed IT.
I must have come across the wrong way, I'm in agreement with you. With your post, not about needing to pick up more books.
Especially this, dead on how the U.S. government acts.
What channel can I watch the execution on? Or am I too early? What year is this...?
Wow. I'm interested in your religion and would like a pamphlet.

Oh yes I agree. Although I'm sure he's not a stupid person, it was a very stupid action.
But he's not breaking the law. He swore an oath to protect the constitution from ALL enemies, foreign and domestic.
blah blah blah nazi blah blah blah blindly following orders
The fact that his employer is the enemy of the constitution should bear no moral weight.
They sell gold plated CD/DVD that claim they are rated for 20 years if properly stored.

You are just plain ignorant.

he has now mastered the Chewbacca Defense
You can't live with them ... ... what do we do with them?

The reason Homer is so appealing to us is because he is Everyman, at his worst.
Yes exactly! I think also because although he does let his desires lead him, his love for his family conquers all.
I've experienced that experience before and feel very un-experienced to see someone else experiencing it.
That's bull. Fight it. It's your property you can give it away however you want to.
Did it explode 640 years ago and we're about to witness it? Or is it going to explode soon, and future generations can witness it?
