i don't know where the man stands on other issues, but based on what i've read in this article i'd gladly vote for rep. boucher if he wanted to run for king.

...I just dropped mine on to a NYC street from 3 feet with only minor cosmetic damage and major heart skippping...
'cause as you well know, boys and girls, a NYC street is like four times harder than a street in just about any other city.
i hate to slag, but this isn't really announcing anything new. this is the same kind of gee whiz article that pops up from time to time letting us know that a couple little developments have taken place and then going on and on for paragraphs about how cool smart clothes will be once they get here.
i'll admit it's been awhile since i sat through my base level commercial design classes, but i could have sworn that among the chief aims of any advertising campaign are: 1) making consumers associate your comany with the service you provide; and 2) encouraging positive feelings about your company. so why are there so many annoying ad campaigns these days?
when i think of companies i can get a webcam from, sure i think of x-10. but i also remember how much they got on my nerves with their damned pop-ups. and though i'm not really in the market for a computer these days, all track record aside i sure as hell don't care to encourage a company that puts that fucking fevvercorn commercial on all day and night. and 1-800-collect with their long run of bullshit most recently crowned by carrot top of all people...
i guess negative association is association nonetheless these days.
1. when i was in elementary school, i'd have been beside myself in awe if i would have found a penthouse in the school library. so yes, i'm cool with the idea of those being in there.
2. i really don't care if anyone yells fire in a crowded theater. i've gone through so many fire drills in my life that they have little to no effect on me. if I become aware of fire and smoke I take an interest.
3. i really don't care if people fornicate in public. if they're attractive people- so much the better for everyone. if they're not- well, i've gotten used to the idea that most of what i see outside my limited realm of influence probably won't please me too much. these little eminem clones running around with their hair bleached on top and their backwards sun visors annoy and disgust me as much as seeing two fatties having a sex party on one another would.
Forget your list and move to New Orleans.
Open container? No problem.
24/7 purchasing? Yes, please.
Hard liquor availability? Try convenience stores, supermarkets, and just about anywhere else! (There's a drive-through daiquiri store not three miles from the house I grew up in.)
Laissez les bons temps roullez, indeed!!!
I guess that's why I couldn't get into debate in high school, then. I'd watch a competition and be impressed from time to time, but I could never ever imagine myself involved in that.
Oh, and while we're on civilized competition (not that you brought up the following topic, dstone, but I thought I'd probably better address it anyway) I do enjoy a game of chess every once in awhile and have no problems with that being turn-based. I think it's just an issue with me that when it comes to board games I recognize that it would be absolute mayhem trying to understand what's happening- especially when you're dealing with such simple representations of "characters". With the added realism of onscreen representations I can better comprehend activities going on hither and thither.
Basically, I have a hard time getting into turn-based games because I can't begin to identify with what i'm seeing on screen.
In no function of real life am I ever restricted to performing an action and then waiting for the corresponding action from the other party. Even in something as simple as conversation- it is certainly polite to speak and listen to the response and then speak again, but I am always free to interject, interrupt, ignore, or simply walk away from the other person when it is their "turn" to talk. I can't imagine being in a fight with somebody where we stand facing each other taking turns throwing punches and not being free to do something so simple as blocking.
Say what you will about a lack of imagination/intelligence/attention span on my part, I just have a very difficult time mentally connecting with this style of play.
i wouldn't sweat it. when these kids become surly teenagers and college kids they're going to have to do something to rebel- and something tells me it won't entail adopting more safety measures.
dunno... i thought that the movie adaptation of 1984 was pretty spot-on except for the way they handled the end of it. and as far as kafka movies, orson welles' version may not be much easier to comprehend than its remake, but it at least communicates that claustrophobic sense of "everything is wrong" that seems so intrinsic to kafka's work.
The movie in question is "Begotten". I've owned it for a few years now and it's ummmmm... Well, I don't know this E. Elias personally or anything so forgive me if I make an unfair assumption regarding his person. "Begotten" feels like a movie that was made by a goth to impress his goth friends. Well, if you can sit down and watch the whole thing, that is. Don't get me wrong, I really love the movie and I think it makes excellent background visual fodder when I've got guests over and feel obliged to have something cool on the tv but don't feel like having all converstions sidelined due to flashy explosions and bumpin' techno soundtracks or whatever else is on tv at the time. It's even better if you pull a stunt with it with those music tracks from the first quake cd, a la "The Dark Side of the Rainbow". I'm really quite curious as to how this movie turns out, as I was pretty blown away with the news that the director of "Begotten" has bumped right up to the major league all of a sudden. Also, due to the high profile the director is being afforded from "Shadow", "Begotten" is getting a snazzy new dvd release at the end of this month, so that's kinda neat. Oh, one last note. For any of you Marilyn Manson fans, visuals from "Begotten" were both pulled directly and used as a style template for the "Cryptorchild" video.
is it just me, or does it look like some tomfoolery was happening in the men's bunker?
or maybe that's not a high-heel on the floor.
sbombay is a very talkative and overreactive nance.
'cause as you well know, boys and girls, a NYC street is like four times harder than a street in just about any other city.
What really baffles me is the fact that someone saw those lights driving. I don't think they do that even up north.
I can't help but wonder if Miguel uses one of these.
then i guess their annoying branding isn't even serving its intended purpose of making me remember their service.

probably about as much as policies that make it possible for children to get suspended for saying "bang" while holding a cookie.
I bet you'd care if you tripped and split your head wide open. Or if your wife and child got trampled over.
i probably wouldn't trip because i probably wouldn't be part of the intial rush. and i don't have a wife or a kid to worry about.
What about bestiality? Self mutilation? Where does it end?
it doesn't, that's the genius of it. i'm ready to see this all go down in flames. trust me, you'll thank me for it in the end.
