I beg to differ: Would you say that AutoCAD Light 98/2000 is for beginners? It is only 2D, but sure has lots of use around many offices when 3D is not really needed and sure costs a lot less! -------------------------------------------------- ------------------ PS comments to Slashdot: I submited the QCAD story to/. on October 23 and it was rejected. My story did not involve any comments from 2COWS though.
My IIIx updated flawlessly from Win98. I was a bit slow though, about 6 minutes for the actual OS upgrade, but at least another 10 minutes to backup and restore all my data and programs. You must make sure to disable all "hacks" and some other software like Launcher III before you start the update. Does anyone know if they fixed the "battery drain while in cradle" bug in this release? I know the battery drain can be fixed by physical means, but I was wondering if a soft fix was there yet.
It would be a dream come true to see apps like AutoCAD, MapInfo, CorelDraw..ect running on a Linux desktop. No more need to reboot every so many hours to avoid a GPF or a Blue Screen. Whether this would come true by porting these apps or running through Wine...it would not matter, just get them running on a stable platform!!
If you follow the link below, you will find someone (funny his nickname is "slashdot") has a Red Hat CD with the RedHat logo on it? Is this the sort of thing RedHat is trying to stop? http://auctions.amazon.com/exec/varzea/ts/auction- glance/Y01X4278227X5729503/qid=936301611/sr=1-13/002-9881716-9147440
The pen Organizer Palm IIIe introduced in the USA is not to appear according to 3Com Germany in Europe. The past model Palm III runs out in this country, so that 3Com keeps the Palm IIIx and Palm V in the supply.
The US model Palm IIIe, which is to be had US Dollar to a list price of 229, resembles the Palm III much. However the display is as higher-contrast with the two larger models and the price somewhat lower. 3Com-Praesident Alan Kessler communicated The Business journal " after information of the California magazine " meanwhile the fact that in this year apart from two new versions of the operating system PalmOS was to appear also a Organizer with color display (ts/ c't)
I had a look at some screenshots at its homepage and it looks ok. I tried downloading the src.rpm , but they've been ©slashdoted.
How easy is it to set up? I could not find any installation instructions on the homepage. I guess the rpm should have a readme.
The easiest way to get your fix for Win98 is here: Just use Windows update on your start menu.
It may not do DWG, but it does do DXF without extra cost.

Correction: It's DXB not DWX format. DXB stands for Binary Drawing Interchange format.
There are binaries available for most platforms.
