  1. Biodiesel on Biology Could Be Used To Turn Sugar Into Diesel · · Score: 1

I don't understand why there is not a greater push to Biodiesel made from used cooking oil. you know, the kind from your favorite fast food restaurant. I'm currently making small batches (40 gallons) at home for around $0.85 per gallon. the engine runs better on it, produces less emissions (as measured at my local tail pipe sniffer shop). Hell, the only drawback is the smell (smells like french fries!). I get the oil for free as the places normally PAY to have the oil disposed of. Just think of the farmers that would go back in business from the increased "oil" consumption. Landfills would be less filled...everyone benefits, IMHO.

It amazes me that with all of the hulaboo about Sadam that hardly anyone is protesting what he is doing; killing people with apposing views, using chemical weapons on his own people, using children on the front lines during the war with Iran. Let's face it folks, he is a danger to the world and has to be removed. If he does the right thing and moves into exile, the war won't occur!

Isn't that the truth! Besides, why isn't single user mode on *nix considered an "exploit"? I'd be willing to be a bunch of wooden nickles that the larger majority of *nix boxes have the default config for using single user mode.

Doesn't the IT Department at any college, university etc enforce their AUP? Doh! They don't have an AUP.....

Seriously, I would imagine that surely the IT Department has an AUP that would prevent this behavior along with appropriate actions for dealing with violators?

What I don't understand is why is it that suddenly, any "bad" thing and out come the "grief counselors". What happened to us as a society that we suddenly cannot cope with bad things happening without having a counselor to talk with? Back in my younger years, we dealt with it!

  7. Re:Good luck on Transatlantic Model Airplane Flight to Begin Shortly · · Score: 1

You obviously have never flown R/C airplanes. I have been flying for about 2.5 years and several of my friends and I will continue to fly *precision* aerobatics even in winds gusting to 20mph. Sure, light weight does affect controllability, however a properly built and trimmed plane is extremely controllable.

The problem with users choosing their own passwords was solved for us. We choose for them. Labor intensive? Yes it is, however a few hours work for us (150 users) each password change period is worth it.

Now if I could only get some of them to quit posting their #$@$%@#$ passwords on their cube walls!

Acutally, the Gov't is quite famous for "sole sourcing" military hardware. The F16 amongst other aircraft is a prime example of this.

AND try to purchase any name brand computer (Dell, Micron etc) without an OS installed and see how far you can get.

Also, a common trick now is to only allow installation of Winders on the computer it came with. Take a copy of "Dell" branded M$ anything and attempt to install it on a generic computer. You originally bought the Dell, warranty is out and the MB dies. Now try to install Winders from the DELL CD. You are still legal, however it WILL NOT INSTALL .
