    If there in a new company, does this mean that there no longer owned by AOL? like, that they sold there company, and then jumped ship or somthing? Or did AOL just rename them for some reason (And refocus them on Open source software, It would seem). Does anyone know what's actualy going on?

    These have been around for quite some time in Japan, although they were pretty feature-poor, from what I gather. Its interesting that these things are catching on outside of Japan, though. I'd think somthing like that would be pretty usefull.

    not really... although it dosn't really answer the question.

    The magnitude of acceleration on the x, y, and z axies varys sinusiodaly(if the position varys sinusiodaly, then the velocity does, if the velocity does, then the acceleration does). And no energy is uses, so it is conserved.

    well, the velocity is a vector contaning speed and direction. so, the velocity is constantly changing. accelliration is the change in velocity, ergo the object is always acceleration. However, since the object is moving in a circle half the acceleration is positive and half is negative. It varies sinusodialy. Engergy is conserved.

    Well, I think I have the physics right, but I know I mutilated the spelling :P

    Well, I hope so, but then, I'm not chinese. The thing is, most of the non-PRC people I know don't really care at all. I've talked with people from both HK and taiwant, and none of them seem to care at all.

    There exist strong Chinese democracies - i.e. Taiwan.

    I hate to burst your buble, but Taiwan has only been a democracy for four years 2000 will only be there second presidential election. There isn't a lot of precedent there.

    Also, a lot of the major candidates in that race are talking about a 'reunification' china of some sort.

    What about the person who hooks up his new DVD player thru his VCR, because his TV only has a 75-ohm input, and can't watch any movies because of the Macrovision feature?

    Macrovision dosn't stop the signal from passing through VCRs, it only stops it from being recorded to a VHS tape. If your going to rant, you should at least get your facts straight.

    Actualy, win98 dosn't crash per se, it just 'destabliezes' and starts acting weird. I don't know if loading it as an image would cause problems though.

    Unfortunately you have to somehow dupe millions of people into putting these things inside their bodies which would be difficult.

    Not really, All they'll have to do is start mass genetically engineering people to start genetically engineering people to produce these electro/chemical 'eyes' while there still in the womb. They could then connect them to the brain in order to get them to record. The hard part then would be convincing people to take them out... Oh god, maybe they've started already!

    I think its more like a CCD camera. Nothing terribly new, it just fits all on one chip and it's cheap as heck.

    If you think that, ether you or the people at kuro5hin.org are dumbasses. Next time, at least read the story before jumping to conclusions.

    Ask yourself, why would a device that's 'more like a CCD camera' require a CCD camera or other video source to operate? geez.

    What this thing does is mimic the human visual cortex in hardware, it can be used to track and recognize up to 8 objects in real time...
