My book (http://delmoi.dhs.org/re) May be published online only, if I ever get it done (first two chapters done). Not that this really has anything to do with the discussion, but I thought I'd post anyway:P
This isn't to say that I wouldn't publish offline, but...
If there in a new company, does this mean that there no longer owned by AOL? like, that they sold there company, and then jumped ship or somthing? Or did AOL just rename them for some reason (And refocus them on Open source software, It would seem). Does anyone know what's actualy going on?

These have been around for quite some time in Japan, although they were pretty feature-poor, from what I gather. Its interesting that these things are catching on outside of Japan, though. I'd think somthing like that would be pretty usefull.
not really... although it dosn't really answer the question.
The magnitude of acceleration on the x, y, and z axies varys sinusiodaly(if the position varys sinusiodaly, then the velocity does, if the velocity does, then the acceleration does). And no energy is uses, so it is conserved.
An "approved" Open source license is one that has been approved by the open source initiative, namely by [deleted for karmaic considerations] ESR. Remember, this is the same organization that tried to trademark the term 'open source'.
well, the velocity is a vector contaning speed and direction. so, the velocity is constantly changing. accelliration is the change in velocity, ergo the object is always acceleration. However, since the object is moving in a circle half the acceleration is positive and half is negative. It varies sinusodialy. Engergy is conserved.
Well, I think I have the physics right, but I know I mutilated the spelling:P
Yeh, the ending was lame, but by then you wern't really carring anyway. But it was not carring in a good way. If you take it as the elegant joke that it is... it works very well.
But it completely refutes the claim of cultural affinity for totalitarian rule.
True, but no one was saying that, only that chinese people liked 'anything but anarchy'. Democracy is certanly that.
You've being naive. Talk of reunification is intended to placate China
Well, I hope so, but then, I'm not chinese. The thing is, most of the non-PRC people I know don't really care at all. I've talked with people from both HK and taiwant, and none of them seem to care at all.
There exist strong Chinese democracies - i.e. Taiwan.
I hate to burst your buble, but Taiwan has only been a democracy for four years 2000 will only be there second presidential election. There isn't a lot of precedent there.
Also, a lot of the major candidates in that race are talking about a 'reunification' china of some sort.
What about the person who hooks up his new DVD player thru his VCR, because his TV only has a 75-ohm input, and can't watch any movies because of the Macrovision feature?
Macrovision dosn't stop the signal from passing through VCRs, it only stops it from being recorded to a VHS tape. If your going to rant, you should at least get your facts straight.
If you cut and paste the string into a browser window, nothing happens. Click the link, and well...
Actualy, win98 dosn't crash per se, it just 'destabliezes' and starts acting weird. I don't know if loading it as an image would cause problems though.
The great power that is the slashdot dumbass. Able to change reality with a single false assumption... assumptions that propagate like viruses acrost the sea of idiocy!
Yeh, I know. when I said "Functional visual cortex" I ment the one he was born with. And when I said "He needs more connectors in his brain" I ment connectors to the hardware, not aditional nurons in his mind...
Unfortunately you have to somehow dupe millions of people into putting these things inside their bodies which would be difficult.
Not really, All they'll have to do is start mass genetically engineering people to start genetically engineering people to produce these electro/chemical 'eyes' while there still in the womb. They could then connect them to the brain in order to get them to record. The hard part then would be convincing people to take them out... Oh god, maybe they've started already!
No doubt, the governments wouldn't stop until there were twice as many of these optical/electronic 'eyes' then there are people on earth! Those bastards!
This guy already has a functional Visual Cortex, what would be the point of replacing it? What this guy needs is better/ more connectors in his brain, not a new one.

Your forgetting the Special form of fusion that was also used.

90% of the population thinks everyone is stupid - do the math, someone's gotta be wrong.
Hrm... could it just be that the vast majority of people on earth is simply stupid? I think it could.

Uh, these people went broke beacuse no one ever gave them any money. Its not hard to reach 0$ when you start there...

Didn't Bradly drop out of the race? 36,000 people got to click the 'I want GORE' button? woo... god, the political system in this contry is fucked up.

They only got 225 total comments. I gues we don't really care that much...

Offtopic maybe but it isn't really even that. The only moderation this deserves is +1 funny.

it was done in the 1970s

I think its more like a CCD camera. Nothing terribly new, it just fits all on one chip and it's cheap as heck.
If you think that, ether you or the people at kuro5hin.org are dumbasses. Next time, at least read the story before jumping to conclusions.
Ask yourself, why would a device that's 'more like a CCD camera' require a CCD camera or other video source to operate? geez.
What this thing does is mimic the human visual cortex in hardware, it can be used to track and recognize up to 8 objects in real time...

Heck, with my vision, I could tear my eyeballs out and simply use these, at a fraction of the cost of new glasses.
Hrm... I don't know, but for some reason that just dosn't sound like a good idea to me...
