    I've been wondering about this for a while, there seem to be a lot of people who believe its real, and can show "some" results. I have a hard time believing that so many people would claim success if there was really nothing there.

    What do you think of this whole situation? Thought I don't know myself, I've heard it said that this would violate the laws of physics. (I would like to know, though). Of course Relativity violated the laws of physics to before it became the laws of physics, to right?

    What My main question is, is do you think enough actually laboratory work has been done to discredit Cold Fusion for good, or is it possible that there's something to it?

    Gravitational Tidal forces will crush your ship and rip apart your body long before you get to the singularity, probably even before you get to the event horizon.

    remember your body can't stretch out like a strand of spaghetti from a black hole anymore then it can from a pair of cars chained to your feet and hands. But then again, spaghetti dosn't strech anyway. Whew. Hope this doesn't get moderated too high.

    Everyonece in a while you get posts like this. There should be a "Troll-but-funny" moderation option for posts like this, maybe move them to another section or somthing.

    2003 seemed like a long time in the future when they were planning this whole thing, and they figured it would be a good date to have NTSC completly phased out.

    Under the current plan, the plug is to be pulled on the system in just 3 years. I seriously doubt that most people will be ready by then, and that's the issue.

    They could charge the cards to *themselves*. Also, I know someone who used CC numbers he got off IRC to create Xpics acount with his referal numbers. He only did it a couple times though, we convinced him it was a "bad" idea...

    My personal hope is that the 56k modem is the last of the dial-up era. However, I also live in hope that DSL (et al.) never falls into the Microsoft dictated "software required" trap.

    Well, you havn't got much to worry about, 56k is the maximum posible with the current phone system. The only way to get more would be to replace the phone system, witch is what DSL is...

    The average generic winmodem costs about $16-$18 online.

    You can probably find a 'real' one for about $50

    Well, obviously simplified is going to be easyer to read then traditional for someone who's grown up using it.

    I'm learning both traditional and simplified for the first time at age 19. Traditional, I think really is more easy to understand then simplified, at least to me. I won't dissagree about writing though :)

    Although I love Chinese, I still think english is good

    I've never said anything bad about Chinese, other then that allot of the sylables sound the same, and that is true, especialy for someone not born and bread on tonal languages

    Your *brain* is your spellchecker. It's the only one that works.

    Well, I don't know about your brain, but mine *Does not* have any sort of functional spell checking ablity. While I can detect a misspelled word, sometimes this is only the case if it's a huge error, and I still won't have any idea how to fix it.

    by Word, I ment MS-word. I'm using a windows PC here. no ispell for me.

    While I have not yet seen the software which can tell the correct usage of "its" versus "it's", any spell-checker on the face of this earth will catch "hobbiest". Even Microsoft's. Having that in a piece to be posted to the entire world is awfully sloppy.

    It's interesting that you bash microsoft here, beacuse Word does check it.

    Anyway, I could care less about it, it's not like you can't tell from the context.

    Well nothing like WOZ as far as I know, but I belive he funds some sort of R&D place staffed with Xerox-PARC ex-patriots. That R&D place spun off the failure game company, Purple Moon.

    He's also invested in Lots of cable companys, and TicketMaster, and is a major investor in Transmeta(if not *the* investor), and therefor employes Linus Torvalids(sp?).

    I'm not sure I follow, Gates dosn't make that much as pure salary for being CEO, instaid is "net worth" is all tied up in microsoft.

    As far as I can tell the majority of the billions of dolars he does get out of the system ends up going to charity, so in a sense, nearly all of his "income".

    Or, to look at it another way, gates most certanly did *not* make billions of dolars of money in salary this year, and he gave away billions of his money. I don't know many people who give out 1000x there own income to charity.

    This is not to say that I like bill gates in anyway, just that your post dosn't make much sense.

    (i.e. the OS iteself very rarely crashes).

    When you need to reboot the computer, it means the OS has crashed. In My exsperance (my highschool, I graduated in 99) that happend about every 4 or 6 hours of use.

    The problem is, without protected memory any app can bring down the system. And dispite what rabid MAC fans say, app crashes hardly ever bring down even win9x. All you get is a little diolog saying that the program crashed.

    I don't use windows NT personaly, but everyone I know who does only has to reboot there computers every few weeks or months, and most likely due to an upgrade, rather then a crash.

    Well, a game-gear lasted about about 30 minutes on a set of 6 new generic brand batteries, whereas the the gameboy lasted about a week.

    The GB also weighed a fraction of the GG, and it was a lot smaller.

    The GG/lynx might have had pretter graphics, but they were pretty much usless for what they were intended for. There's more to technical superiority then CPU speed
