I agree with you-why put down more rules when all it makes people do is try to go around them? MY LIBRARY needs it but I think that the descision should be on the LOCAL level not national...ok that's all...
I go to the library to get books...not to get on the net...I have my own pc..BUT some ppl say that kids go to the library to work on school and 'cause they are to poor to have a pc...well not at MY library...I went in there today and there were kids printing off the 4 page limit of porn(after that the sweet old lady at the fron desk charges $.05 per page)
These kids are 12 and 13! They dont need to go to the LIBRARY to get porn! I doubt that the parents would give the nod for such activites...and I doubt that the people on/. that get porn GET IT FROM THE LIBRARY! I am offended when I see nude women on all the screens at the library, What's next? Will they say it's the little kids right to masturbate in the library??
Maybe Jon Katz could also put with his movie review; HIS FAVORITE TRAILER! He could have the best one shown before the movie...LOTR for this movie..just a thought

Dear/. Reader,
This year has brought many firsts for me (I'm only 15) but yet I know that this is only the beginning. I have learned much (from the people here at/. and in 11th grade) I don't know if there has ever been a year in history where more history has been made,yet I am in awe that life goes on. You and I will not have anything more than memorys left from some of these moments that stood still; Elian,Mir,Microsft,Charles Schulz died,Steve Allen died,Hafez Assad the president from Syria Died,Bill Clinton,Al Gored,G.W. Bush,Hanging chads,Survivor,Milosovec booted out,the Russian sub the Kursk sunken,The foreign exchage student that lived with my best friends family for the year-I love her but can't tell her...she is going to college in Vermont now...Who Wants To Be a Millionaire,Kosovo,the fabled Y2K,Sie Alec Guiness died(Obi Wan to most of us),the $7.7 billion spent by Americans going to the movies,the Yemen Bombing,The bumpy ride of tech stocks,the 2000 Olympics in Sydney(to those of you that are not from the US-I apologize for the way some of our atheletes acted)and many other things that seem to all blur into what I will remeber till 2100 (yes I plan to live till then,I am the future like it or not ; )
I leave nothing behind that I wish I had done and I can say that there are few things I would have done better.This year I thought alot about our freedom in the United States and how our forefathers helped to found our great nation with the idea of "Liberty and Justice for all" I thank God that I have breath each day and pray for peace in the middle east and the rest of the world.
Have a Happy New Year (and happy festivus-I'll be 16 on the 30th!)
