Your entire comment is a red herring if it's meant to address what I wrote. Nowhere have you (or the poster I was replying to) given a moral, ethical, or legal basis for why teachers' unions should be worried about anything other than teachers.

And people do have recourse against teachers and the systems in which they work. First is the ballot box to replace school boards. Second is the court system.

Female teachers? My other hypothesis (the first was posted up above, somewhere) is that female teachers are woefully underprepared to deal with male children in a learning environment.

Others have already addressed the questions you ask, but let me throw out a hypothesis I have: lack of fathers in the home. The 'good cop/bad cop' approach doesn't work if there's only one at home. And then there are the inconsistent and sometimes contradictory rules when bouncing between two homes. Competition by two people trying to be favored by the child results in a lack of discipline.

Those black on yellow signs with numbers are recommended speeds for the curve, not limits per se. IIRC, the standards were developed in the 50's or thereabouts, which is why modern cars can almost always do double that speed. FWIW, the speeds suggested are just about right for tractor trailers (articulated lorry?) in my experience.
