As a Security Analyst, I did some Code review on ECommerce software. What happens is that usually the program consists of two 'main parts' : the products and the payment. On the product part, it contains the price, specs, etc. The vulnerability (?) consists how the first part 'communicates' with the second one. There is a lot of apps that use HIDDEN html tags, what is VERY wrong, and where a kid can change the price. If the 'payment part' has a price checking mechanism, this kind of fraud would be more difficult to reproduce. Its like a sales man giving a paper with the price to the buyer to pay at the cashier man. So, learn: In God we trust, the others we monitor.

Stop the criticism! First, the brazilian gov isn't paying a cent for doing the computers, they are just incentivating it, paying (already) researchers of UFMG (A university) to create it. The entire computer can be built around this prize if you buy the separate parts, but now they are releasing a product with the lowest price they can get. What the gov should do, was to lower the tax (around 17% of the final value) over this particular product. And think on possibilities, people that work the entire day but can't have a computer (around US$ 600/700 over here), now can have one of these and use the NET for research, studies, etc. Its true that are a lot of issues that need to be worked out, but all help is welcome! BTW, the Computer will probably use a AMD k6-II 500, SiS MotherBoard, cheap products that are already on the market...

And, it appers it will have a DOC (Disk On Chip). Well, as soon as they released it, i will get the machine...excellent home routers, firewalls, low volume webservers and gaming station! 9. Is this really interesting? on Quake For The iPaq · · Score: 1

I know it's really cool to play game on your PDA, but is it really necessary? People that buys PDA (I have a PalmIIIe) aren't the kind of playing games on it, because they (almost all) have the power of a desktop on home, and the speed of the PDA won't help much. The only game that I play at my Palm is PocketChess, on rare ocasions. I prefer to wait some hours and play HalfLife at my desktop. This kind of effort could be canalized to more apps that are really necessary on PDAs, like text processing and maybe games that doesn't require only visual, but brains too. Just a thought.

Hello, I had the same problem, because my company (a security consulting one) is almost based on Windows specialists and every single person on the company has a personal ID (Check http://www.thawte.com if you want one personal for FREE). I looked everywhere to see if I could find any console tools to do this (i really love console on linux). But at the moment I looked for, I just found that Netscape Navigator (4.7x in my case) worked with these IDs. And worked pretty well, on my personal experience. But now, looks like that the new PINE (console program) support it too. Take a look and choose the best one that fits for you (But for God's sake, just don't use the MS Outlook! :)).

And this kind of thing may be happenning all around the world, including USA, but the companies were more cautelous and ran a sed "s/GPLPROGRAM/NEWNAME/g" on the source code and usings other methods of obscuring the code. Just check the LinuxMagic VPN Firewall that is released but without any source code (and even binaries to download), you just have one option to get the (bin) files: buying it. What's the possibility of a organization that had access to all source code (the company that gives patent, maybe?) and compare with others software to check for any copyright infrigiments? I think that Microsoft is using GPL NTFS and SMB code! :)

I used to use ICQ, but nowadays I just don't use any instant messaging. My company 'forces' the persons to use MS Instant Messaging (cool Windows client) for being ready to discuss with co-workers) and I used everybuddy (that supports ICQ, MS, Yahoo and AOL) on Linux, but now I just don't use. I don't like the idea of people monitoring me, if I am online, if I ain't, etc. If they have to reach me, they try e-mail, that I monitor every 5 minutes. If I want just to chat and waste some time, i use IRC. Instant messaging is just another nifty lil' thing that everybody lived without it, but now that it appeared, people gives too much importance for it.
